I spent all morning in court today, as the only police witness for the prosecution of a young 'boy racer' whose vicious driving caused this crash which wrote off three vehicles.
There should have been another witness, by he declined to make a witness statement.
(Perhaps he was leant on?)
Net result:
£700 fine, and driving ban for 6 months.
Sentence was not tough enough in my opinion, he could have easily have killed any of us.
His two offences were:
* Dangerous driving
* Leaving the scene of an accident
(basically - he legged it.)
His two excuses were:
* "My brakes failed ten seconds before the crash."
* "I didn't leave the scene of the accident.
I stepped behind a bush, and fainted in shock.
I woke up two hours later, got up, and everybody had gone."
Obviously barefaced lies.
He wasn't believed of course.
Still - I did my duty to God and the Queen. etc
