This seems to be the kind of nonsense coming down from the establishment, this and stuff like "tinnitus volume isn't what bothers people". It is as if they have carefully crafted a sort of mindset that THEY think we should have as sufferers.
The claim that tinnitus loudness is not the thing that bothers people, I feel, is a lie that makes the sufferer feel like the reason tinnitus is bothering them is because they aren't mindful enough. Essentially that if your tinnitus bothers you, it is your fault, not the loudness of your tinnitus and you should seek therapy or some hog wash like that. They may think they are actually helping by trying to brainwash sufferers into trying really hard to habituate but they aren't. Some of us aren't braindead sheep and know that's not true and it really pisses us off.

I don't think so, but I could be totally wrong. It could be coming from all over the place, the organ of corti, the brain etc. Maybe it is the DCN????

 

I think 80% of tinnitus is in the DCN. If you can make it quieter/louder by moving a muscle then it's for sure in the DCN.

 

I just stumbled on to something extremely disturbing on Wikipedia. We are so fricken doomed that this exists.
