Hi All,

I've been living with tinnitus for the past 6 years. It started as a very gently static in my left ear, but seems to go away during the day. Same for the next day. On day 3, I turned off the tv to go to sleep and somehow it wasn't quiet. There was a loud noise in my left ear. I of course started to panic and barely slept for a week. Through a suicide line I got in touch with a psychologist who taught me some relaxation exercises and introduced me to the drug Klonopin. My doctor started me off with 20 drops (I use the liquid 1 drop = 0,1 mg so 2 mg ). I don't think he had any experience with it.

I felt like a zombie for a few weeks as I learned how to copy but in the end I somehow learned to live with the T. I went back to work and started to reduce my dose on my own. From time to time I would have a relapse so I would increase my dose but always making sure I stayed under the previous peak. I even went totally klonopin free for at least 6 months but had to start again. I managed to get to 2 drops a few months ago but I started getting problems sleeping. I had to increase back to 8 drops to stay asleep. As soon as I felt better I started going down again. I again got into trouble when I reached 2 drops. Only then I considered the possibility that it was perhaps a withdrawal symptom. I did some research and discovered how powerful klonopin really is and decided to try and stop. I took my last drops 3 weeks ago. According to my doctor, this should be no problem. I do have a lot of anxiety, panic attacks and not to mention problems sleeping. I also feel my tinnitus has increased in pitch and it's getting out of control again. I wonder if it was wise to stop with the klonopin because I at least could function with it for years.

Has anyone been in my position ? Any advice would be welcome.

Hi @David-M,

I'm sorry but I have no experience with Klonopin; have you searched the forum? I know I have seen others post about it. I did a quick search here and it returned ten pages worth of results. Hopefully you will find either some answers there or someone who you can message (it may take a day or so for that to be available as you just joined) who will be willing to help you.
