I tend to think its more like my brain had a Tinnitus filter that was working well, until the medication came along and completely destroyed the filter. But then again, you hear plenty of stories where people stop hearing T after many years, so if things were really permanently damaged, how do we explain their full recoveries?

      Noise induced, acoustic trauma
The question is can we really call that a recovery?

      Absolutely. How is it not?

In my opinion, if you ever get to the point you don't hear your own T, I'll take that! The point at, which my life gets back to 100% and I'm not feeling assaulted by this sound and being forced to wake up at 5:30am to this natural alarm clock, I'll call it a win! Even if that means I still kinda hear it. At this point, I'm just hoping for a volume reduction. If I can't get that, then I just hope my brain moves the ef on with life and gets over this.

But, to my original post, these people say they can't hear their T at all, so yes that is a full recovery in my opinion.

Anyway, you and I have a lot in common checking these posts everyday and we both tend to be having difficult days. I hope yours gets better.

It is an absolutely sad story, but it is a success story of a sort as well. She succeeded in surviving against all odds. We shouldn't and can't take that away from her. And she, and the rest of us, should keep at it until some treatment is available and helps reduce tinnitus or cure us.
