      Hello all

My name is Matthew, i have endured tinnitus on and off for the past 5 years. It only occurs in my right ear.

When i have an attack it usually lasts between 1 and 2 weeks and culminates with an attack of incapacitating vertigo, which results in vomiting over several hours. My tinnitus is gradually getting worse with every episode.

I have been to several GPs and ENT specialists (all useless) and every time i have been given some prescription drugs and promptly dismissed. I have found the drugs to be ineffective for the most part. I still have no clue what is causing these attacks. I am booked for an MRI scan tomorrow which will (hopefully) rule out any tumors.

I have read through some of the other members posts and there seems to be many people with similar symptoms. I am particularly drawn to the posts about Meniere's, because those symptoms are exactly what i am going through.

I look forward to making some new contacts with whom i can chat about this dreadful human condition.

Yes, this does sound like Meniere's. There are some treatments for Meniere's. In addition, there's currently a clinical trial for Meniere's that you might be interested in:

      Hi Matthew,

Very sorry about your condition. There are so many here who suffer but this is the place where we all support each other and understand what it's like.

      Stay strong.

I'm mareleigh, and I've had tinnitus since about 2008. Its something that I had dealt with in my younger years and paid little attention to, while going to sleep at times, I would notice the ringing, but was not consistent . In my early 60's it came back to visit on a permanent basis. I research and will leave url's on locations that the disease is studied, but not on miracle cures.. By the way, I take no meds for this condition.. I have adjusted to the tones and most of the time I am totally unaware of the sounds.
