      Hello

I seriously need some advice on what i should do because it feels like i am going to kill myself because of this t.

I had a long argument with some people 2-3 days ago where I got angry and everyone was talking in a loud pitch for 30 minutes i had my earplugs in but they were not a 100% well fit in my ears after the argument my T was highly noticable and rang like hell as I never have had such argument with anyone before i got very hyper and afterwards was very anxious and agitated this feeling is still there now i feel like depressed and i feel sacred even ehen door opens or someone calls me loudly i feel scared.

I am on PREDNISOLONE for last week or so 40mg x2 for 6 days and now have started to taper with 10 mg x2 for few days and then 5 mg for few days more. I took it by myself this time as it was once prescribed for me by my ENT for SSHL and I felt like slightly heavier listening in my right ear (T affected, have T in both) i got scared and started taking it.
I was able to sleep okay for few nights but after the argument I couldn't sleep and was sweaty all night and was like so scared and depressed all night. T was up a lot i can hear it and can't mask it well.

This morning when I woke up my right ear was very heavy and when i am not able to listen properly there is a fulness i cant properly explain.

What is happening? Please help and is it because of prednisolone drug is Ototoxic?
Should I stop taking it because I cant get an appointment with ENT. What should I do please Im afraid I can't do anything.

      Afeef,

Hang in there. I was in your spot once. I also took presnidone. While it did help with the volume, it also had some temp side effects. It had my mind thinking similar thoughts. My only advice would be try to give it some time which I know sounds impossible right now. Important to follow taper instructions with the presnidone so I would say finish it out.

      Hi there Afeef,
My dad is in similar situation and he feels like he can not handle himself without medicine- he is in deep depression, deep anxiety and T going up and down. I read a lot about the topic, researched almost all possible and my opinion is that T is one or another way related to the nerve system, so one need to have a stable nerve system to deal with it. My dad is taking xanax which is not helping him to handle so me /I am studying for chemical engineer/ and his doctor discussed some pills and decided that this one might be better for him-FLUANXOL
He is taking it 3rd day now and the described sympthoms of you started going down...

The best thing is to calm down now and don't get too agitated over things. Extreme emotions such as anxiety, panic, grief etc. are known to make T worse. So do what you can to calm down. If you don't want to use drugs such as Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax etc. to calm your nerves, perhaps you can try natural alternatives such as Camomile tea, Hops, Valerian tablets, Melatonin etc. Check out this site on using natural herbs for calming and sleep problem:

      http://www.christopherhobbs.com/lib...alth/herbs-and-natural-remedies-for-insomnia/

Prednisone is often recommended if you have inflamation in your ears and if your T is from acoustic trauma. I haven't heard much about its side effects here. Here is a thread talking about it and the use of steroids for T:

      https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads...dexamethasone-others-oral-and-injections.348/

Try read the success stories and get some insights from others how to get better. I had severe T & H a few years back and I went through hell with them, and anxiety & panic attacks overwhelmed me. I often thought I wouldn't see good life again. But here I am living a normal and absolutely enjoyable life. I am heading out fishing tomorrow. I wrote my success story and list some strategies. For brevity, if you are interested about the strategies, here is my story:

Also if T bothers you so much, do try masking actively and here are some suggestions:
      https://www.tinnitustalk.com/audioplayer/

If you need more masking sounds, here is free ‘aire freshener’:

Rain sounds are soothing indeed. How about making your own rain sounds with this rain generator:
      http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/rainNoiseGenerator.php

Search youtube with ‘masking sounds’ and you will also get lots of different nature sounds, such as rain, waves, waterfalls, running brooks, insect sounds, even shower & faucet etc.

And if you need DIY notched Acoustic Coordinated Reset Neuromodulation (ACRN):

Thank you for your replies means a lot and also helps me be positive.

Also went to my Ent yesterday he did some tests amd told me not to panic that is actually what makes T worse and more noticable.
Further he added not to think about it because my brain will make a habit of perceiving it as a threat and it will be more noticable.
He told me to adapt to the environment and surrounding and try to be positive.
The TESTS are attached would like to know from you guys how much hearing loss do I have in right ear because he told me it was not much.

      Lots of love

your hearing loss is almost non existent ... mine goes down in a 45 degree slope from 6000 onwards ... and I still `hear` although it sure isn`t as refined as before ...
