I woke up to this really, really high pitched sound in my ear. I've never had it at this high a pitch. I seriously don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Please try stay calm and over the next 48 hours should start to settle down unless you have got a cold or infection brewing.
Also protect your ears from the winter weather as can spike tinnitus for some people.
Keep us posted how you go on...lots of love glynis

Thank you so much. I went back to sleep after hearing that sound, don't know how long I stayed up for. Now the sound is gone, hopefully for good. I don't know if that was fleeting T, or a spike as I've never had a spike. What does a spike usually do? And what usually causes it?

A spike in sound can come out of the blue but usually short lived .
A cold, virus, stess, sinus problem and cold weather and loud sounds are the main ones that cause a spike and more reasons that cause Tinnitus to start.

You will learn how your tinnitus can change in sound and strength and your reaction will get better when you know it settles down again like today....take care ...lots of love glynis
