Question: Does the crackling I hear when I cup my ear to hear sound mean I might have impacted ear wax? I'm known to shove a cotton swab pretty deep even before the T from the shooting range . Because I've done it after the T and I twisted the swab and little pieces of hard dark brown wax seem to get stuck on the swab when I pull it back out. And I stick the swab real close to the ear drum..

Never stuck something so deep in your ear ... That might also cause T as far as i know.

And this is my favourite thread. I can't stand everyone telling me "This is not curable. Deal with it!". Everything is curable ... even life itself :D Just give your body a chance! With desperate thinking the chances are, you are making it even worse and it realy might never heal. People underestimate the power of their thoughts so much ...

Yes, I did see them. And it just prooves my theory. Even an ENT the other day told me: "It looks like the conventional ways are not working for you. You should try other treatments like baro-camera(oxygen treatment), diet and herbs.". Everyone that i spoke to, said that it is unknown if i will recover. But i remember one professor said: "It can dissapear. Just be positive about it. But there is nothing i can give you in the form of medicine. You can still keep taking ginko for 6-7 months.". And that was right after he adviced to "deal with it" :D

I am still afraid of undertaking oxygen therapy because of the blood vessels problem they found in my brain. And some ppl say, that their T got worse after such treatment.

That's why i started a healthy diet with all natural and not cooked foods. Mostly fruits. So that should help my body recover sooner. I think it's worth a try for everyone. You actualy start feeling much better, once the toxins from junk-food, meat and other stuff start leving your body. I could not believe it. I am a "fitness" guy and eating a lot of proteins is something like a religion in that sport ... But my body actualy feels much better now.

@CaRd isn't Ginko risky if you have problems with veins/vessels?

Depends on the problem. They are giving me pills for widening the blood vessels. I think the Ginko is actually helping in that matter.

Although, they did tell me to cut the dosage in half. Because i am taking Betaserc also.

Yes the fleeting 10-20 second spikes come from nowhere but i am convinced it is your brain trying to reset the level 0 . For me they are less and less as the time goes on and mine is quieter than 10 months ago when the spike started.

Lately the pitch of the ringing has been going into a higher frequency tone / hiss. Does this seem like a step in the direction of healing?

If it continues increasing its frequency, then eventually you might not be able hear it. But if it stops changing frequency and begins getting quieter, then higher pitched sounds are easier to hear, even when they are quiet...

Hey @Rick Brewer - I've just recently acquired the mosquito sound after strimming the lawn (with hearing protection) and it's very annoying! I've had my t for 1.5 years and mine was initially exacerbated by micro Suction which I totally regret getting as my t was very manageable beforehand. It would seem mine is very easily aggravated and is predominately a hissing/ringing now constant bluebottle noise too which is soul destroying. You sound as though you're being positive about it!! Good on you, it goes a long way in the T journey!! Here's hoping for quieter days ahead!! X

No @Michael Leigh... my ears just react to them seemingly. And the T is worse afterwards, maybe I've not given it a proper shot but I don't recieve counselling with this TRT! I still very much have hypercausis but it's the tinnitus which distresses me more. I do also have depression but I'm far too afraid to touch any antidepressants. So I'm no better at all :(

i know @Vicki14 has given the devices a good go and they haven't helped her much too. We saw the same audiologist and it's the same sound therapy. Meh.

      HI @Bear0211
Sorry to hear that you're not any better. Unless you have the counselling just wearing the white noise generators alone is not likely to be successful. You should have a word with your GP about your depression. If an antidepressant is advised I believe you should try it. Not all antidepressants will make tinnitus worse. If they do it's usually temporary. If you don't want to take then try St John's Wort. It is herbal and won't make your tinnitus worse.
      Best of luck
      Michael

Same here Bear depression and tinnitus - all from night clubs. I've got a WNG that I'm trialling and if I want it it's over a thousand quid (that's with no counselling)

Personally, I don't believe any amount of counselling is going to help me. I mean I've read everything possible about tinnitus, what's a counsellor going to do differently that hopefully time won't. I'm hoping time will heal me to habituate to it and learn to accept I fucked up my ears.

      @Paulmanlike

Same depression has truly taken over because of this beast T!!
Did you go to nightclubs pretty frequently? Also did your ears ring after nights out?

I'm finding regret too much to handle too! :(

I paid well over 2 thousand quid for sound therapy! Thinking that was a mistake...! Argh!

I also feel the same. No amount of counselling is going to help the utter regret I have for doing this to myself!! So damn angry with myself. And I feel I'm watching everyone get on with life too! I miss being carefree. Meh

      @Michael Leigh
To be honest I'm feeling pretty much robbed by the hearing clinic I went to. They were very professional and I got all sorts of hearing tests, but I was an anxiety ridden mess (still am) with this and I feel I was plonked with this extremely expensive sound therapy with no counselling whatsoever. It's been absolute months since I was last there snd not even a phone call or email to see if I'm still alive! Ha.

I've seen my doctors countless times and they really recommend antidepressants. I'm terrified it'll worsen as over a year later my T isn't better. I couldn't cope if it worsened. I think I've just read too many horror stories regarding antidepressants giving folk tinnitus or making their T worse!

The one Medication I do take every couple weeks is diazepam. This has been on and off since a year now so I don't think it's wise to continue even though I don't take them daily.

I'll look into the St. John's Wort.

      Thanks Micheal.

250mg is fine @Vicki14 After 6 to 8 weeks if your stress or anxiety that the tinnitus is causing hasn't improved significantly then I advise that you speak with your GP about how you feel. If an antidepressant is recommended I strongly suggest you start taking it. It doesn't have to be a large dose and it can improve your mental wellbeing a lot. St John's Wort mustn't be taken with antidepressants. Please click on the links below and read my two posts. @Bear0211 please click on the links below and read the posts.

      All the best

P.s. I did get used to it in 2008 then a recent club experience (because you know I still like to
Same here . I used to but I cut it out completely the last few years. Then when I went back to one it came back with a vengeance. How about you? They always used to ring after but always subsided until permanent, unfortantly I always thought it was just a temp condition.

@Paulmanlike yeah I used to go to clubs far too much. Wish I never now but meh. And yeah my ears would be that fuzzy buzzy way afterwards. Not every time but yes a fair bit! If only I knew what I know now!
Funny thing is my T didn't come on until 11 days after I went to my last club experience.

You've had it from 2008! Yeesh! Is it mild? One ear yeah?. Mines started in one then went bilateral :(

Your brave to go clubbing with tinnitus. Did you wear earplugs? I'm far too anxious to go to any events even with ear plugs. Totally feel like I'm missing out on life :(

Regarding the depression. I did have depression before T. Yet That dark cloud was lifting a tad before I did this to myself!! And oh I'm such a worrier, have bad anxiety.

I can honestly say having T is one of the worst things that could possibly happen to me. Yet it's my own fault. The regret is overwhelming:(

I have mine in one ear, not to sure how severe it is but my reaction was severe enough to lead me to the path of depression, so bad I was hospitalised. But in the day I can barely notice it, in the nights it is prominent. A light screeching sound. I guess I am full of regret as well, self pity, horrible feeling. I have no idea how to forgive myself.

@Paulie87 Ah okay. Mines is tonal and sometimes hissing. Does yours stay the same sound like?
Yes my audiologist says it's my reaction to it but I think mines is moderate! I know the depression isn't helping. And all I can think of is that I'm missing out in life. Everywhere I go I'm a jumpy mess as I seem to get caught out with loud ass sounds all the time! I'm just so scared of it worsening.
Do you have hypercausis? I definitely do.

Hospitalised? Jeez :( sometimes I think I'm heading that way.
Do you take any medication to help? I'm so scared to touch antidepressants but I know I need them.

That's what eats me up. Regret. I don't know how to get past it. It can be so preventable this horrid infliction. Yet I bashed my ears on nights out :(
      So I feel ya.
