Tinnitus Since
07/2015
Today I was looking to buy some lightbulbs, of all things, when I realised I didn't know what fitting I needed. However, I knew there was a picture in my message history somewhere, so I typed in bulbs to see if I could locate it. The first one I clicked on displayed texts from some of my darker days and I was hit by a sudden realisation of how down I was and how far I have come.

I looked and found other messages and it brought a tear to my eye because it was like reliving the torment. I'd like to share these private moments in the hope that newcomers may take some solace in them.

I no longer think about my tinnitus all that much, and I am miles from being in the same mental state I was in the messages. It was a very arduous journey that took time, and it came with many setbacks.

The texts range from 2015 when the worsening occurred, to 2017 (a few months before my first child was born).

What a brave post to put out. It was an emotional read for someone, like me, that has had tinnitus for years and is now going through all sorts of additional hell. I hope I can make it to the other side like you have. Thank you for putting out such a brave and private moment of your life.

Pleased to hear you're over the worst of it.

Thank you.

I was so bitterly depressed and tormented that even getting out of bed was enormously difficult. When you come through the other side, as I now have, there is always that lingering risk that it could become worse (again), and that never goes away (for me, at least). However, it's just something you learn to deal with and I have a life again as opposed to having to struggle through each day with constant suicidal thoughts.

I'd ultimately love to see a cure or an effective treatment so we can objectively help people eliminate or lessen their symptoms, but until that happens, the best we can do is support each other and show those who may be new to this forum that many of us do move on with our lives. It's just not often that people post about it.

Thank you.

:D

I did do very well with the crypto, but I can assure everyone here that money alone does not make you happy, and it doesn't change your mental state if you are truly depressed.

It does help pay the bills, though, which is always helpful
