      Hi Everyone!
      I just registered today.

I dont know where to start, but I need some guidance.. :(

My tinnitus is definitely stress related. In 2015 august I was stressing out for no reason!!!
In the meantime I was constantly consuming huge amount of alcohol and sugar daily. Not proud of it, but I also masturbated 3-4 times a day besides my girlfriend...

Until 2016 october I was waiting maybe the tinnitus will go away, but it didnt. It was very bad.
It took me more than a year to decide to make some life changes.
I completely stopped drinking alcohol, consuming sugar and masturbating and I started attending gym every second day. Within 1 month my tinnitus dropped about 80%. It is manageable at the moment. If Im focusing on something else, I can not hear it.
I dont smoke and rarely drink coffee. And I never experienced raise in tinnitus after consuming coffee.

Do you think it can go away completely in time or I am stuck with this mild tinnitus forever?
What do you think what should I also try to make my stress related tinnitus even quieter?
How can I make my nerve system calmer?
I hear very good. Do you think I still need to go to an ear doctor?

I greatly appreciate your comments and help!
I hope all of you find a solution to your problem!

      Brian

No one here can really tell you if your tinnitus will go away or not. While many people have tinnitus forever, it may go away.
You could try meditation in any form to decrease stress. I am curious why you thought masturbation was an issue. Masturbation and sex are both proven forms of stress release.
You should definitely ask to see an ENT if you haven't already.

      Thanks for the reply!
I found lots of evidence on the Internet saying over masturbation will eventually affect nerve system negatively.
Which makes perfect sense to me. I was always extremely exhausted mentally. Couldnt sleep before 4-5 am and I had this strange muscle-jumping all over my body. Then suddenly everything went away, when I went cold turkey on masturbation. Its been 176 days:) still too horny every day, cant help it, but to get rid of T is more important to me.
But I went cold turkey on alcohol and sugar as well, so I cant tell for sure which helped the most.

Thanks, I definitely try something with meditation.
      What is ENT?
      How is your T?

ENT is an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist.
My T is not too bad. Tolerable for the time being. It's been constant since around Jan 26th but I can handle the volume. It's worst when I'm working night shift as I am tonight and did also last night so if I can make it through the next 9 hours without it increasing in volume too much I'll be happy.

Would it be reasonable to ask a ENT if masturbation and tinnitus are related?

      Good luck at your night-shift!
Now that you mentioned night-shift...If I dont sleep well at night I believe my T is worst by 5%, than usually the next day.
Also I have a feeling that allergy could play a little role in T. For example I ate lot of nuts and dried fruits and I had problems in my stomach and I also couldnt sleep well. Then my T was worst again by 5%. So also try to think about the food or drink you consume.. I stopped eating nuts, tomatoe and fish from can and I can fall asleep normally. But it is probably just my sensitivity to these products.

A few people have mentioned that I see a naturopath which I will do. I'm waiting to see my GP to get a referral for an ENT first then I will see the naturopath.

My T just gets louder as the night progresses. It started very loud at the beginning of my shift today because I also worked night shift last night. I usually only do one night shift at a time because of this but someone asked me to do two so I thought I would try. Conclusion is that it's not worth it. I won't do it again in the near future.

      Hi Devonlee!

I was today at a hearing test center and they confirmed my belief that my T is not hearing loss related.
They told me that the hair inside my cochlea is damaged and that is why I have T. It can be a result of stress, what I had in that time when T started.
They told me that they will give me a device which I have to wear a maximum of 8 months on my ears, which will teach to my subconscious that the T is a normal thing, thus It wont be annoying anymore.
They also said, that it is an extreme successful procedure and some people are reporting huge result even after 3 days. That particular patient didn't need it after 3 days. Some people got rid of T. (I guess there was not a huge damage inside his/her cochlea). But the main point is everybody reported huge success! So I think I can start this treatment in 10 days.

How is your T these days ? Did you see a naturopath ?

Any of you have experience with these devices?

Ps.: You were right. It has nothing to do with fap. I broke my "silence" after 185 days and my T didn't get worst.

Sex and other pleasures reduce the stress and reduce the tinnitus. You might get hair palms and hands from too much masturbation but it can't hurt your tinnitus :)

It seems that they are giving you a form of notched sound or white noise to help with habituation. This can be helpful.

I am uncomfortable with their conflicting statements:
When the hair cells inside of the cochlea are damaged, we only KNOW this through hearing tests. And if this is the CAUSE of your tinnitus, it is CERTAINLY related to hearing loss, even if the loss is imperceptible by you. It is quite possible to have "Hidden" hearing loss:
      Can “HIDDEN” Hearing Loss Cause...
, but we don't know if this can cause tinnitus.

Even though the translation of their explanation is concerning, their treatment is NOT necessarily concerning. Doctors (and other providers) often use explanations that communicate very well to patients that sound like hogwash to other providers. I try not to do this, because I have particularly discriminating patients. But, by being VERY accurate, I lose some people....just like I may have lost some of you by now...
