Simvastatin — Has Anyone Taken It? Is It Ototoxic?

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Noise-induced, Ear Infection, Medication... Who knows?
      Has anyone taken this and made tinnitus worse?

      Intermittent Tinnitus probably noise induced
      I took simvastatin for years, but I have no idea if it made the tinnitus worse. My doc recently switched me to Atorvastatin. I have not heard of any problem with any statin drugs, as far as tinnitus.

      consider policosanol as a natural lipid lowering alternative

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Acoustic trauma
      Policosanol has worked very well for me for years with no negative side-effects. My total cholesterol level averaged in the 220's before taking it. Since I began using it, about 8-10 years ago, the average is in the 170's.

      Additionally, that's without any changes in my diet.
