      stress induced
I've had Tinnitus for over 25 years now. I've tried it all from Oxygen Chambers, Acupuncture,
meds, vitamins to TRT. I really wouldn't mind so much if it were not soooo loud and obtrusive -
the volume level is the killa!!

I got it from having a high stress NYC commodity trading job working on the exchange floor.
Yes people can get tinnitus from stress. When you're highly stressed neurons hyper fire and
get caught in a loop. My ringing is very high pitched and 24/7.

I am also an audio engineer and have created some volatile frequencies using synthesizers
that may help some people - Would love to get some feedback!!! Here's the link:

Thanks for checking it out - will write later about rTMS success...

Wasn't the Exchange Floor loud? All the people yelling and the bells ringing. At least it seems very loud in the movies and TV shows I've seen it on. Not that it matters too much at this point but I think there's a good chance your tinnitus caused by the incessant noise. Especially if you worked there for years. No different than working beside a loud piece of machinery for years and no earplugs.

Stress can cause tinnitus and you have had it a long time. Many people having this condition as long as you have do habituate at least to some degree, taking into account the treatment that you have had. Did you have proper TRT? By this I mean wearing white noise generators for up to 10hrs a day and using a sound machine at night. In addition to this, did you have regular counselling sessions/talk therapy with your Hearing Therapist? This is a vital important part of TRT otherwise the treatment is unlikely to work. If you did not have this treatment in the manner I've described, then it was not proper TRT that you had. The treatment takes up to 2 years to complete.

Reflecting back to your post and the fact that your tinnitus is still loud after this time and you are having difficulty habituating. Whilst this can happen because tinnitus comes in different levels of severity. I am more concerned that you are an Audio Engineer. If this requires you wearing headphones, then I believe these have made your tinnitus worse over time. Headphones and tinnitus do not go well together even when the volume is kept low for some people.

Thanks for responding guys - yes people yelling and bells ringing on the exchange and plenty
of bullying!! However not quite as loud as you would think. The tinnitus started in the afternoom after
a very stressful day when I was not on the xhange 'floor' - it was full blown overnight. One side started first, then within 2 hours the other side. Thought it would simply go away the next day - NOT!!!

Mike - your right did not have proper TRT nor did I stick to it very long. As far as the audio engineering
work I keep volumes way down and started doing it only few years ago -

Of course over the years Ive seen countless doctors pretty much all saying learn to live with it, nothing
you can do, blah blah - In 2011 I went to a RTMS specialist who said it will cost 8-10k to try pulses directed at the Auditory Cortex - they said I would need to come in for 2 weeks every day and there is no guarantee they
could reduce it. The first day they pulsed my primary auditory cortex on my left - it was a slow
pulse. The second day same thing. I told them this is never going to work and I quit!! They said
come back one more day and we'll try something different. They sped up the pulses and cranked the
power level. Within 30 seconds the tinnitus on my left side was annihilated. 100% gone. Weeks
later we tried the right side - however no luck. Anyway certainly feel some relief as it never returned
on the left - perhaps the Rtms could have transferred it to my right but who knows. My right
side still loud and relentless. Youd think tinnitus would tire itself out - incredible its so
stubborn!!Also after this relief my hearing is now slightly better on the left!!

      Hope in RTMS

      @yoyo

I do not follow very well. The right ear sound gets processed on the left side auditory cortex, and the left ear sound gets processed on the right side of the auditory cortex. In your story, they applied the rTMS to the left side of the brain, and had effect on the left ear tinnitus??? Could you clarify??

Yes they applied RTMS on my left side - Heschl's gyrus area.
Rapid pulses -from that it was alleviated on my left. Have since tried
right side many times, but it will not budge on my right.
