      Hello to all perceptive eyes.

I hear a lot of people talk about and reference noise induced tinnitus. Although my experience was a bit different. I was sleeping during the evening, and I got a knock on my door. At first I was not gonna answer it but then I decided to open the door, so I suddenly stood up and got dizzy, blurred vision, you know the usual of standing up too quickly when you've been sedentary for a while. When I laid down, I heard a loud screeching noise (like cicadas) along with pain for 1 minute. Then a soft buzzing noise has remained, sometimes it gets worse when I'm not sleeping well.

Is this because there was a sudden rush of blood to my brain and ears?? Has anyone had this happen with the blood rush or standing up too quickly?? I will be going to a hearing specialist tomorrow.

Would like to talk with people who have had a similar experience. Thank you for reading.

      Welcome to the forum!

That sounds scary alright, hope it's just temporary. Have you ever had neck or jaw issues, or blurred vision/temporary tinnitus in the past? Look up "neck issues" or TMJ on this forum and you may find something similar.

My tinnitus can get louder when I turn over in bed quickly, but it always subsides quickly back to baseline.

      Can you describe the pain?
The inner ear is responsible for both the hearing and balance, so it is not surprising that there is correlation in symptoms.
I suggest you go see a doctor.

      Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. I agree with Greg. Go see s doctor to check things out. You may want to check blood works to see if you are anemic too. Sometimes it can cause dizziness for sudden posture change. Blood flow can definitely cause tinnitus. So yes, check it out.

It's like a piercing kind of pain in both ears. And yes I will go see one tomorrow, thank you very much for the feedback and suggestions! : )

Hey Mister Muso, and yes I have had jaw issues before in the past. Although I have not been properly diagnosed with TMJ, I do share a lot of the symptoms related to this issue. And in the past it never caused a ringing in my ears, only blurry vision and dizziness. I am going to read up more on that, do you have any links of people who have TMJ and was able to find a cure or solution to it? It would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi

I don't have any special information or links on TMJ as it's only a secondary issue for myself, but if you use the Search function here you can find posts and people to connect with.
