Thought I Lost My Earplugs, and Made an Utter Fool Out of Myself

This happened a little under two hours ago, and I feel like a total jackass.

Everyday, I grab my earplugs (in their case) from my TV stand and put them in my pocket. I always make sure my earplugs are where I put them, especially because this version is discontinued and I can't buy them anymore. I've tried several different designs/brands, but this is the only pair that fits.

But I can't find them. They aren't there. I tear my room apart and I can't find them.

So I start freaking out, I go downstairs because that was the last place I had them because I was wearing them while doing the dishes yesterday. I look everywhere, and I can't find them.

I start panicking even more, and I realize that I can't get to work without them. If I don't go to work I'll get fired and I can't call out because I already have too many points.

I start hyperventilating, crying and hitting myself. I can't breathe. This is straight up, 100%, a full blown episode in front of my family all over my earplugs (which I can't even go farther than the mailbox without because I start to panic.)

Thankfully my sister found them under the couch (how the hell they got there, I have no idea.) And my dad will help me split the cost of a custom pair of earplugs, but I still fel like such a damn drama queen.

Just needed to vent.

 

That's one of those things normal people might think is odd but none of us would ever think of you as a fool.

Not sure yet. I need to discuss the particulars with my ENT.

I would suggest a few backup alternatives if getting to work depends on earplugs.

 

As I mentioned in my post, I have tried other plugs and none work for me, and I'm getting customs made.
