Cause of Tinnitus
Still Under Investigation
I had an extremely frustrating moment today when I said to myself:

"Why is it that the idling truck with the loud muffler pulls up at the traffic light while I'm waiting for the walk signal?"

"Why is it that the guy with the screaming kid comes up behind me in the check-out line at the store?"

"Why is it that the person walking the barking dog comes around the corner just as I step out of the house?"

"Why is it that the person across the street unlocks their car and the loud beep goes off right as I'm passing next to it?"

I finally had to chuckle a little bit. (Just a little bit.) Fact is, those things always happened. I just notice them now, since tinnitus.

Trying to adjust. Really. I am.

Gotta love my little foam earplugs from the pharmacy!

@Mystery Reader

I have noticed the same things that you speak of. Although my T was not caused by noise trauma (the only thing I actually do know) I now find that I am very sensitive to noise. Most likely this is caused by my fear of making things worse than they already are. I wear hearing protection when I vacuum, use the dishwasher, etc. All things that I never gave one thought to before the T moved in with me.

Case in point.....went to my favorite Italian restaurant and ended up with not only a headache but a noticeable spike in the T. Dishes were rattling, the background music seemed too loud, other customers were talking too loud, and on and on. All things that I never even noticed before the T.

The food was as good as ever, though. I had wild mushroom risotto with a side salad and warm, crusty Italian dinner rolls. :) I may or may not have had a glass of very dry red wine!
