slept on earbud?
Hi all,

About a week ago, I (stupidly) fell asleep with my earbuds still in. I woke up the next morning and found that I had slept on my right side, and so the right earbud had pushed into my ear quite far. Music was only playing for about 30 minutes and not very loudly, but my ear was a little sore. After removing the earbud, the soreness faded over the course of the day, but I was left with a pressure and ringing in my right ear. I have had this happen once before (in early July, took my ears about a month to return to normal). What I am wondering is, did I really mess up by doing it again? Will my T heal up on its own again, or is it here to stay?

Nobody can tell you if it's here to stay. It doesn't seem like a serious acoustic trauma, so there's no obvious reason it couldn't heal.

Thank you both! I think I am just worrying too much about it and causing it to be a bigger deal than it really is. Would you recommend going to see a doctor re: this? Last time it happened I did see a doc who prescribed some anti-inflammatory ear drops, not sure if they did any good or not though.

Hi kpweav123,

Welcome aboard!

I would recommend to go see an ENT just so you have the piece of mind from a clinical point of view that your ear is functioning normally.

If your certain the earbud caused this then I probably wouldn't bother going to see an ENT.

There's not really much they can do apart from look in your ear and send you on your way with a pointless prescription for something you don't even need.

My advice, ditch the earbuds and avoid loud noise for the next coming months and give your ears time to heal.

If indeed they do recover look at this as a warning, protect your ears from this day forth and you shouldn't have to worry about it ever again.

Goodluck.

Thanks all! At this point my T has all but dissapointing, leaving me with just an uncomfortable "fullness". Is there a chance that this fullness is indicative of an injury to my ear caused by the earbud, and if so, can I do anything to speed up the healing process or do I just have to wait things out? Thanks!
