Hello there, I’m in my teens and after masturbating today my ear started ringing. This has happened before, but it has always gone away.

Today I’m left with a ringing sound which becomes louder when it's quiet. I'm quite scared actually, so are there any treatments?

      Thanks.

That won't give you permanent tinnitus.

Have you been to loud concerts over the past week or two? Have you taken any medication listed on

In any case, you should be concerned about tinnitus being permanent only if it sticks around for more than a week. Even in that case, it will likely fade within 1-3 years.

Son, that just means you are bustin at an advanced or even elite level and should be a point of pride. You might want to bring it up to your doctor next visit though in case it's something else.

Otherwise I simply advise, and everyone should do this, is to be sure to wear hearing protection when exposed to loud noise like a concert.

      Thanks all who replied.

So if it should go away, for the week for it to recover should I only masturbate 1/2 times a day or completely stop until it gets better?

      Thanks all.

I wonder if masturbation is altering your GABA levels in your brain when your testosterone levels are lower.

      Bill,
When I saw this thread, I immediately thought of one of your recent quotes. :)

I agree though there's no way this caused tinnitus. He's had some warnings, needs to figure out what's causing it and stop.

Interesting thought. My libido has been in the tank for weeks with my resent spike. If this is plausible, maybe it's causing me worse symptoms. Hmm.

      Agreed!

His sessions have got to be Intense!
If you keep getting spikes every time you try it, then it makes sense to stop and then wait a month or two after tinnitus completely goes away before resuming. I know it is easier said than done, but this struggle have got to be easier than the struggle of having to deal with tinnitus.

Are we sure it's the masturbation itself causing the tinnitus? I've never heard such thing, ever.

Even if he's hearing some tinnitus after each session, I think it's more likely because he's watching porn too loudly. Think about it, he's probably using earbuds.

The masturbation, as long as it's not done to excess, is probably harmless.

I don't believe masturbation itself can cause tinnitus, but maybe a related factor in the act could contribute to it. Perhaps the neck muscles getting strained during an intense session? Or it could be because of posture: if porn is included, looking down onto a laptop screen for a long time can mess up the neck as well, especially if this is done multiple times a day.

Well this is interesting... I've meant to mention this to a doctor sometime but it doesn't bother me too much...

Regardless, sometimes after vigorousish sex... ok it's difficult to explain, but I'd experience this sensation of fullness in my ears, like a flushing, and that makes my tinnitus momentarily a bit louder.

It kinda feels like blood is draining, the hearing changes (hearing level drops, sound becomes... muted? less detailed?), and the sensation of fullness. I'm not really sure how to better explain it at this time.

The whole thing lasts a few minutes, maybe. I can say that after/during a vigorous workout the same thing happens, but less intense.

Ah, you know what it sounds like when you get fleeting tinnitus? Kinda like that, but with extra fullness.

If you keep focusing on it, then you definitely risk making it worse (assuming there is no physical cause). We all know it's scary, but try not to pay any attention to it.

If you need to do something, then you could try some mild and regular stretching exercises for your neck, to see if that has any effect. But without more information, I think it's best to focus on other things. There are plenty of cases where it fades away after fluctuating a lot.

im copy pasting this response from another post... i also believe that i got tinnitus from masturbation... u got this bro... i included some evidence that i had n some links for masturbation and tinnitus and my personal experience with tinnitus.... u can do this my guy tinnitus is bad, but if u can deal with tinnitus, u can deal with anything, and the things u learn from the journey will prove to be invaluable in the future
well im sry i saw this post so late but hey at least we r fellow teens (14 here) dealing with tinnitus but i'm not active on here as ive personally overcome tinnitus (for now). if u ever see this, i hope u've overcome ur tinnitus. it always gets better, 100% of the time, time heals everything... also i think u came across the thread i made a si saw ur reply from the thread i made lmao but anyways yeah i cited some articles there to support overmasturbation n tinnitus n also there's a lot of anecdotal evidence..... just research about "sexual exhaustion"... apparently the tinnitus can go away but i haven't been able to stop masturbating enough to test it (screw quarantine i'm doing it two times a day rn fuckkkkkkk)... basically it's a scientifically known fact that masturbation increases brain activity in the central nervous system bc of the oRgAsMmm. ight but anyways, it's also been scientifically proven that people with tinnitus have brains that are less at rest and are more at attention (heightened brain activity).... therefore, i think that doing masturbation too much (i did it like 5 times a day for a week being the dumbass i am) or doing masturbation in an odd way that affects like blood flow n pressure n stuff can affect the brain n the brain activity to heighten it n alter the neural pathways (bc ur brain associates porn n stuff with feeling good so it creates new neural networks) so then u get tinnitus.... anyways, yeah I think its possible... check out this link (https://yourbrainrebalanced.com/for...tigue-sexual-exhaustion-recovery-guide.31983/).... anyways, i think that it can go away, but even if it doesn't, it's not the end of the world, because u can take preventative measures to prevent it from getting worse n u can take preventative measures to protect ur hearing so that when ur older ur hearing is better than other people... plus by the time people become older it's really common to have tinnitus.. i think it was like 1/3 or 1/2 of 70 year olds have tinnitus... what further comforted me is that every single person has "tinnitus".... it's just so quiet that you need ear plugs in a virtually silent room to be able to hear a faint ringing.. but it's a "tinnitus" so that really comforted me.... also u become used to the tinnitus to the point where it doesn't even affect u anymore... i hope that this post proved that u can get tinnitus from masturbation n i hope if u ever come back on tinnitustalk n check this thread again that this either helps u overcome ur tinnitus or that u already overcome ur tinnitus. u got this bro....

here's my personal experience and some advice: (u can do this bro)
well yessirski its the now 14yo boy back after almost a year later and i'm in a much better place mentally than i was a year ago. tinnitus is like the same, a little worse actually because i'm masturbating a lot because of quarantine well anyways that's not the point. (also we got haskins now and i hope we become the washington redwolves). point being, i haven't overcome my masturbation addiction..... i'm doing it like twice a day rn, but i've overcome my hyperacusis. i used to not be able to even handle dishes being washed, but now i've gone to concerts (i forgot protection :( rip) and i'm not dead so... i think personally what really helped is that when i first got the tinnitus, i was preparing for an entrance test into a hs (yay i got in), and that focusing on something made the first week blow by..... and then after a week i'm like i've already gone a week with it, what stops me from going another week? then what stops me from going another two weeks? another month? i did get anxiety that i still deal with to this day, but it's fine, and my anxiety is mostly gone. i would do really weird and random stuff due to the anxiety and panicked ab like eyesight and stuff but point being the anxiety and depression and everything until u get used to it will be rough.... no matter what, but it's always worth it in the end.. do i still think overmasturbation was the cause? ye, i do, u may or may not believe me but anyways..... am i still functioning as a hs student? yessirski. i was still able to go to pep rallies (without ear protection so bad me) and be a trisport athlete and get good grades (my dream school is MIT so hope i can get that) and everything and tinnitus didn't stop me despite getting it like 21 months ago.... i think that u have to focus on a goal when u first get it, and despite everything u can push thru n get used to it a lot faster by focusing on something instead of tinnitus and then once u've achieved it be like if i've already gone this far.... what stops me from going further? tinnitus n hyperacusis suck, they really do.... but u can get over it.... even as a middle school student, hs student, college students, adult, whatever... it doesn't matter anyone can do it... i guess this is my official success post even tho i got over tinnitus after like two weeks but still had my lows now n then... so yeah, i should've said this a long time ago, but better late than never (lmao this is a part of the lyrics from wake up call by ksi n trippie redd but anyways).... I BEAT TINNITUS AND HYPERACUSIS. i honestly do think this journey has made me a lot more mature and i don't think i would be the same person i am today without tinnitus. do i wish i never got tinnitus? yeah.... but i can't deny i've learned a lot thru this journey that i'm certain will serve me well in my future endeavours.
      peace.... for now
