Hello everyone, my name is David, My tinnitus began in 2010, I really just woke up with it one day, had been on zoloft for many years and took chantix to quit smoking, my tinnitus began under the combination of those two medications. I was in the marine infantry for 4 years 94 thru 98 which lead to some significant hearing loss and likely predisposed me to the the tinnitus, but I never really had any major tinnitus until 2010. I believe the medication combination triggered the tinnitus that I was already predisposed to from my hearing loss. It did drive my crazy from 2010, but I was able to cope with it fairly well until Jan 2014 when for some reason it got much worse. Thats when I really started looking for help and I discovered this wonderful site.

Yes, severe tinnitus is something that make even the toughest fall to their knees.

Given your onset of tinnitus and your location, I would consider the upcoming clinical trial of OTO-311, if I were you. As with any clinical trial, there are restrictions on who can participate. I would contact Otonomy as soon as possible to learn more. They are more open to dialogue and support than eg. Autifony Therapeutics (who are somewhat tight lipped).

      My suggestion.
