Noisy workplace
Hi all. Ive had tinnitus for over 10 years now in my left ear and for the most part its been bearable to the point I largely didn't notice it anymore. 5 weeks ago I fractured my calcaneus and since then have noticed the high pitched squeal in my ear has got considerably worse to the point its consuming my thoughts.

My question is could the injury be the contributing factor?

May be the stress its caused you may have spiked your tinnitus or the pain relief medication you could be taking..
Love glynis

The impact when you broke it could have travelled up to your inner ear and caused some irritation.

Any time we are sick or body is in distress of any type Tinnitus goes up for most people .

Thanks for the replies. Couple of points to add

1. I noticed that for the few days while I was in hospital the tinnitus was virtually non existent (calm before the storm)
2. Its the pitch that is the annoying thing which as gone from a whooshing sound to a nails down a blackboard sound

Is this likely to be temporary?
