Five participants, all of whom were on medications for other problems, did not show significant changes. However, the four participants who benefited from the therapy were not using any medications. The report attributes drug interactions as blocking the effects of the VNS-tone therapy.

I am skeptical about this. Meds no meds, bla bla bla. We'll see when the real trials go thru.

Positive negative, forget these concepts on this topic. Be a realist. They can implant something to make deaf people hear, A new surgery is close to having blind people see like a camera does. Even if VNS works a bit...what does that mean? It means progress, it means more information. This condition is going to be cured in a decade. Just look at the facts :)

What to do? in this decade make it the healthiest decade of your life, so when the time comes you decrease the probability of failure. Maybe you might even need less meds. Become stronger. Thanks to Henry, ( yes I gave my T a name) this blasted sound reminds me not to skip on a workout, not to eat garbage more then once a week, and to be able to run 5K in 30 min. Not to sit still and suffer, but to stand up say Do you worst Henry, because I am going to do mine!

Run, Lift and Eat well, the rest will come ;)

have you tried masking with different white noise, it really helps in the long run man. the first week I will not lie suicide enters your mind if you like it or not, but you Cant die from T, its just sound, you can Habituate eventually. Imagine if a a T sufferer committed suicide and a cure was made 4...6 years later..

I tried vagus nerve stimulation briefly with a portable device that attaches to your ear. I might try this again in the future with a proper attempt and a protocol with sound therapy at the same time.

Have you undergo to a surgery where they put some sort of wires in you vagus nerves?
How long have you used the vagus nerve stimulation and does't it make the sound of your T lower?

No, it was a small device, which you attach to your ear and then control electrical current. Here's a manual of the device I tried.

@Winterheart That did make me laugh.

When I was a kid I had a book called 'The Big Book of Amazing Facts'. It had pictures of things like white blood cells with swords going into battle with infections (also with swords). So I can see where you're coming from with the imagery.

I think I'm an anxiety prone person, and I have had anxiety issues over things unrelated to tinnitus in the past. I think that tinnitus is just the perfect thing for a person who is prone to anxiety to have their brain focus on.

Nice! I hope it works well for you. I live right over in Des Moines. I'd love to hear more about how it works for you.
