Personally I find comfort in uplifting and encouraging words, and would like to share some of them in this thread.

Hope you too will share any uplifting quotes, sayings, words that you may find encouraging and inspiring.

Sometimes a good word can make a small difference on a cloudy day.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

      Psalm 23:4

Let’s say we do get better / or there will be treatments. It could be in 5 years, 10 years, or even 20 years.

No matter how many years we lose to this we will be compensated for each and every of them. We will be compensated just in the sheer volocity of joy and love that we now have for the rest of our years. The longer we suffer like this the more joy we will get once we’re out of it. The more suffering, the bigger joy.

Imagine having lost life only to gain it back again. There is no bigger reward. We’re not only getting life back as it was; now it will seem endlessly rich, like a never-ending dream, a dream come true quite literally. “A healthy person has a hundred wishes, a sick person only one.” Our one and only purpose: fullfilled.

It’s gonna be so much better now because of how incredibly appreciative and happy we are of it. Our suffering literally has the potential of making life better.

This kind of joy and love for life is not seen very often among regular people. Most regular people have never had their lives taken away from them. We can be envious of these people right now, but nobody in the world is ever going to love life as much as us when this is done. That is a privilege. Our suffering has the potential to literally become a privilege.

It’s only through these types of sufferings we get access to this kind of love and appreciation. In the end this might actually have been a good thing. It will be almost as if we needed to get fucking tinnitus (and neuro-disorder) to see just how incredibly good life is. I learnt a lot through my time with this, and found a lot, and I know for pretty much a fact that I would not have found it any other way. These things I would not want to be without. I needed this suffering. I hope some day to be able to say that I’m happy that this happened to me. If in 10 years from now I’m free and looking back on it, and someone asked me if I would go through it all again just to be where I am at now, I might actually have to say yeah. It would have been worth it. Fuck, I might even recommend it.

@danielthor, yes, you are onto something of great importance here.

I don't think you necessarily can experience true happiness, on a specific level, unless you have overcome something difficult - permanent or temporary. It sure makes you appreciate life even more.

On my best days I feel such a gratitude of just being, living, breathing, smelling, seeing - using my senses and be mindful and observant over all the beauty that surrounds me / us. Making notice of things that I did not think of before.

It's fulfilling, and gives me inner peace.

      The End is the Beginning

Failure is not the end of the line
It does not mean “stop” or give up
      It means, take a break,
      Reflect, gain clarity,
      Redirect your energy
      And try again.

The choice isn’t to move on
      - life moves whether I want it to or not.

No, the choice is to look forward, not backward, to take a step because refusing to move won’t draw the past nearer, only postpone better days.

I believe the body has a built-in defense mechanism for times when physical suffering becomes too much where it pushes you out of your mind and into your body, into the present moment. Echkart Tolle calls it “forced awakening”. It has happened to me before.

I think If you’re still in your mind, suffering, then that means you can still bear your suffering, and if your suffering does become too much; your body will use its reserves to free you. It happens to animals in the wild when they are caught by predators, and it can happen to humans as well. With this in mind, we should have no reason to fear. I think we will be alright.

      Absolutely @ZFire.

We have a looming skills shortage in the United Kingdom (and the United States too, I suspect), owing to the fact that the last two generations have been brainwashed by the media to view mediocrity, or more appropriately, averageness, as failure.

When I was at school, any boy you asked was going to be: a footballer, an actor, a lawyer, or a sniper...

      That was us, the Millennials.

With generation Z on the other hand, I imagine if you walked into a school and asked what they were going to be when they left, the answers would sound something like: actor, singer (rapper), dancer, footballer, basketball star, gangster.

So quite similar still, except they've dropped the only realistic profession that our generation were considering... which was sniper  (heh).

But as you can see, very few of them have a realistic understanding of the world.

So yeah, in all seriousness, because of this terrifying dumbing down of the people who are going to be running the world in a couple of decades, we now have an abundance of music and drama teachers, yet no science or maths teachers.

In 15 years you won't be able to find a doctor anywhere, but you'll have no trouble finding a guy to break dance for you while you're dying of a heart attack.
