When my mind senses a threat it starts ruminating on it until I don't consider it a threat (kind of like a flight or fight mode). Unfortunately, due to depression issues I sometimes consider tinnitus a "threat" and start focusing on it. Other times, I am okay when my brain accepts that it "isn't that bad" or "isn't a threat", then I calm down and its a lot easier to tune out. Hopefully this new medication I am taking will help me be more level.
