Yes but I first assumed you were comparing christianity with marxism because of facism

But when I talk about unfairness I talk more about social dispositions like being born in a ghetto to be factors that predispose a negative correlation to success in life. Someone can always better their situation but they weren't beginning at the same point in the ladder and efforts needed are much higher and sometime not realistic to achieve the same goals. Not being expose to great education and wrong behaviors all your life normalize them and I don't believe in free will I'm more of a determinism. Capitalism create disparities that priviledges peoples can't understand. I think we need to learn empathy because there is a terrible lack of it in our society. I consider myself being priviledge for some aspect but I also experienced many badlucks, horrible experiences in my life and mental disability since childhood that had limited my progress because I didn't fit in the limited box that society want you to fit in (primarely education because of severe case of OCD and intrusive toughts). These difficulties had given me empathy to those who feel like they are limited by the frame of society. I feel like I can give a lot more than I do now and that many potential aren't exploited in the frame of that kind of society that just program you to work endlessly uncreative jobs for your survivals with no time to change the status quo(mostly those that don't fit in it).

My family arrived in North America with less than $1000 to our name. My father died several years later. My guess is that my IQ is about average. My mom ended up doing well (because of all of the effort she invested into studying [she was over 40 when we arrived] and working). I ended up doing well too.

People with physical disabilities ought to pray that society remains capitalist. Soviet hospitals were worse than Western hospitals and you can see for yourself what happened to Venezuelan hospitals.

In any case, I see we will have to agree to disagree. The winner ended up being Friendship ;)

@Bill Bauer @Oli Both of you expressed some thinkable thoughts today. I'm been fortunate to attain some money in my lifetime, but I have given a large portion of that to medical causes over any possible tax deduction. In our trust (wife and self) the rest will go to medical causes some day.

I need to stop posting. One reason is bending over a keyboard isn't helping my neck and related tinnitus. Think positive. Progress will be made with stem cells, hair cells and hearing. New drugs may be coming sooner than later.

I am glad others are noticing it too.

People in my family and I have been trying to understand why the people in charge have been working hard to end our civilization. The hypothesis that it could be aliens doing these things to us is not bizarre once one takes into account all of the suicidal policies being implemented now that so few people openly oppose.

The amoral and immoral behaviour that's in many parts of the world today, is an attempt to overthrow good with evil and if you look to revelations you will see the prophesy is unfolding but good will ultimately triumph so it is said. Those "in charge" whom you refer to are just pawns in a game and are not the true orchestrators of what is going on. I believe it goes much higher, beyond the limits of normal peoples understanding that are not in know.

If the civilization were to end, it will probably be impossible to restart it again (even after thousands of years), as all of the oil and coal on Earth that was easy to get to is gone now, and humans would require to get to our current level of technology (which will be impossible without a cheap source of energy) before they could go any further. It is not looking good. My only hope is that I die before it gets Really bad.

I agree with everything that you say. This thread refers to religion and that is why I said look to revelations and you will see everything that is going on in the world today is destined to happen. There are also many videos on youtube about this, by people that can explain it much better than me.

      So, was the question answered?
There does not appear to be a correlation between Tinnitus and Religion, however there has been some great posts on this thread that really took my mind off of my T for awhile...lol.
Just thinking about Christianity and Marxism.....I have a cousin that is a Catholic nun, she has lived in a convent in France since she was 23 years old (she is 52 now). She lives in a manner that could be seen as very socialist; I actually think she has a great life, not at all wealthy but rich in so many other ways. Just my thoughts.

In many ways, a family is socialist (everyone contributes as much as they can, and family's income is shared equally).

The problem with socialism is that the lack of incentives leads to lower productivity, lower productivity leads to falling standards of living. Falling standards of living and government officials having a lot of power leads to corruption that lowers productivity, etc. At a monastery, what the nuns get at the soup kitchen does not depend on their effort. Normally, the more equally a pie is split, the smaller is the size of the pie. When this link between how we split the pie and its size does not exist (as is the case at a monastery), socialism works well.

Lol...no soup kitchen for these nuns! They grow their own vegetables and eat really healthy, though they consider overindulgence a sin. But, I do know what you mean Bill. If one is concerned about gaining possessions in exchange for their work, socialism could lead to complacency as there is no incentive to work hard if it will not be rewarded in material items. Perhaps because the nuns are not living for monetary value they are able to make socialism work.
The Amish are another culture I admire. I would consider their lifestyle a successful example of socialism, but maybe I am wrong?
You can even book family vacations with Amish communities in some of the eastern states in the US. I suggested this to my family for a summer vacation but they are not interested in it :(.

The problem with these lifestyles is that 7 billion people would not be able to life off of the land like that. Also, it seems to me that there would be a lot less progress as far as medicine is concerned. So in a way the Amish and the nuns might be taking advantage of the rest of society. They get the benefit of some of the inventions, without contributing to the process of creation of these inventions.

@Sonic17 Nice to hear from you. Do you have an update?

As messed up as my neck became when getting somatic T, I found out from body reflex testing that dental pressure to my jaw and pushing my head into the headrest is the cause. Jaw pressure as the the cause of my TMJ, but the jaw had to mess with my neck before getting loud somatic T. This happened a week later.

So I'm doing a combination of treatments in trying to find the ones that will help. A tinnitus MD pain and rehab doctor is working with me.

Hmmm, never really looked at it this way before. Interesting.
I cannot speak to all convents, but the one my cousin is in has a school for girls ages 7-18 (approximately). She is a teacher there and does a lot of activities with the students outside of the regular school hours, because the students live there as well. Her convent is very much contributing to society in a good way. As for the Amish, I understand they are skilled farmers; another positive contribution to society.
Sometimes I think modern technology/medicine may have increased our longevity, but decreased our quality of life.

As long as their farming activities are profitable enough to allow them to not be subsidized when they make use of modern hospitals, it is all good.

To me, quality of life depends on health, lifetime leisure time, and the number of different memories made during one's life (e.g., travel). The values of all of these indicators have been improved by technology. Perhaps you are using a different set of indicators.

Yes, I likely am using a different set of indicators. Quality of life can be very subjective and difficult to define depending on your background. As a nurse we are confronted with people that are undeniably in poor health. The medical system leaves them without any cure for their illness, only technology (ventilators, oxygen therapy, pain control, etc) that leaves them with poor quality of life ... merely an existence. Yes, their longevity can be increased with technology, but their quality of life is poor. Autoimmune illnesses in particular pull at my heart strings, from what I can see there has not been much advancement in treating these.
This is why I admire some of the cultures (Amish, nuns, etc) that have broken away from mainstream thinking; recognizing and accepting that all of our lives will one day end and living in a manner that is most fulfilling to them now. It may mean foregoing possessions in exchange for family or religious values to build a stronger community for themselves. I do not know much about capitalism, or politics for that matter; but I think when people act out of greed and selfishness it leads to a corrupt and unethical culture.
