CBT helps you to come to terms with your sound and helps change a negative mind set to help low mood with tinnitus.
TRT uses the same counselling aproach but using White Noise Generators in your ears also to mask the sound of your tinnitus set just below your tinnitus or mixing point.

I have had both these treatments and both are usually practiced by a Hearing Therapist trained in the treatment and management of tinnitus. An Audiologist is sometimes trained in them too. Please click on the link below and read my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View. TRT and CBT are covered along with other information that you might find helpful.

Thanks a million Glynis. Yeah, just wondering I guess whether an awareness around, or specific training in the counselling aspect of TRT might be beneficial or even necessary in a CBT practitioner
