I believe antibiotics can cause hearing dysfunction. Care to elaborate on this and maybe offer which antibiotics are not ototoxic? Thank you.

Selfish question. If you were within the first two weeks of suffering acute acoustic trauma and experiencing loud tinnitus, what would your recommended course of action be?

Another selfish question -- and maybe irrelevant to the topic or already addressed (haven't had time to read his specialization/interest quite yet -- but just trying to get some questions in before the deadline). I've read a lot about benefits of meditation, but there seems to be a camp that emphatically states that the whole objective is to block the tinnitus out the best you can and that focusing on your tinnitus is the worse thing you can do... while the other says, just go ahead and make the tinnitus your focus point (since you can't drawn it out) and just control your response... Any thoughts?

I am very interested in your study to be launched in March regarding building an animal model in primates.

What will the fate of the study by if the funding goal is not reached?

Based off of the theory presented in your TED Talk of the "internal noise cancellation system", what would explain a worsening of symptoms or vice versa?

Hi all, I just finished recording our interview with Prof. Rauschecker. I must say it was a great experience. We talked for 75 min and managed to cover many of your questions. He agreed to answering any remaining questions later in writing.

We talked about his own tinnitus and how this experience has informed his research. We talked extensively about his theories on tinnitus brain mechanisms. We also touched on the lamentable lack of funding for tinnitus research, and how patient communities can help to make a difference.

He's really a super nice guy, and obviously passionate about finding a cure.

Personally, I found it a highly enlightening and inspirational conversation. We’ll keep you posted on publication and hope you’ll all tune in to listen!
