I’ll look forward to hearing how that goes. I started Wellbutrin a week ago but I stopped yesterday when I read it’s associated with causing T or making it worse. I asked for nortriptyline or clomipramine. Doc hasn’t responded yet, classic. CBT is scheduling 3 months out, classic. I think I will...

Are you in Sydney, Australia by any chance (looking at your username)? I've spoken to another person on the South Coast & far west in NSW, who has also been going through it for the last few weeks. I'm really thinking allergies or a virus are causing inflammation & our middle ears aren't working...

    Head Vibrating

I've tried doing a reverse Valsalva now. I know this isn't good long-term as it causes negative pressure, however, it mostly stops the noise. Do this at your own risk; however, basically, I held my nose and sucked in my eardrums. Convinced this humming and weird noise is the middle ear muscle...

    Skiing with Hyperacusis and Tinnitus

Hi again. Doesn’t the helmet block out enough wind noise? Apart from that, I’d say the next step would be earplugs, ideally large foam ones that you can insert deeply. The further you insert the earplugs, the less occlusion effect they create. The same applies to earmuffs. If you have larger...

My Tinnitus Makes Me Feel Mentally Incapacitated

Persistent Tinnitus at 24 Triggered by Post-Surgical Medications (Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Gabapentin, and Oxycodone)

I don’t really understand what you’re trying to achieve with all of these tests. Even if your tinnitus was induced by ototoxic drugs or acoustic trauma, it honestly doesn’t matter at this point. I can see that you’re trying to solve the problem by figuring things out, but I’m afraid the only...

Train Horn Exposure: Can It Damage Hearing or Make Tinnitus Worse?

I had a really loud train blast years ago, completely out of the blue. It sounded far louder than the mid-80s dB range. On that same day, the office fire alarm also went off and we all had to evacuate, so it was a double hit that day. I always get spikes from any even moderately loud sounds...

    Recovery from Severe Allergy-Induced Tinnitus

I have ETD due to allergies, but mine started in my gut. My Tinnitus Makes Me Feel Mentally Incapacitated

I’d imagine @MrConall has unmaskable tinnitus, @Sydnears. No amount of white noise from fans or anything else can mask or even distract from the sound for many of us. Is It Tinnitus? Low Hum — I'm Very Worried

Hi everyone. I just started experiencing a low hum after a bilateral ear infection, with fluid behind both eardrums. I suspect that medication may have caused it. It is either Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) or Clarithromycin. Do you think this will go away once the infection clears up and the...

If I tense my jaw in just the right way, I can create the sound I think you're experiencing. Is it the same thing? If so, maybe it's just muscle tension. I did get a deep, fast vibration sensation/sound, like a bumblebee stuck in my ear, at one point in my recovery, which went away.

Yes, unfortunately, from as early as late October, people here already start lighting fireworks, and then it gradually increases until New Year’s Eve.
