Hey dummy, you should probably read up on history. The Democratic Party were the ones in the hoods with burning crosses, riding horses, and hanging Black people. Do better if you want to stay relevant while bashing the greatest president to ever hold office.

Wow, you Trumpers are damn uneducated (what a surprise, with FOX Spews on day and night). Most of us have enough sense not to engage very much with racists who have no ethical values. That comment about the Democrats starting the KKK is stupid, wrong, and ignorant. But your insanity is not my problem. We Democrats and right-thinking Americans just want out of this insane asylum called the U.S.A.

Wait until masked, armed gunmen come to your town and start pointing their guns at you. You think it cannot happen? Trump wants nothing more than to tear this country apart and possibly start another civil war. That will be your problem. I am off to Costa Rica, where it is peaceful and safe. This is not America anymore. It is just a very violent country run by insane, ignorant people at all levels of society. Best of luck with that.

In my wildest dreams, I never thought Team Red would sit back and let Uncle Sam openly seize the means of production or the intellectual property of private corporations. Talk about an Uno reverse card. How are they going to square this with conservative small-government ideology?

Meanwhile, things continue to fall apart, separation-of-powers-wise, here in our consumerist democracy:

Trump tries to wrest spending power from Congress as government shutdown looms:

"The administration says it can cancel nearly $5 billion in international aid with or without approval from lawmakers under a little-tested theory called a "pocket rescission."

"The Republican chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Friday called the move an "attempt to undermine the law."

"The move risks complicating talks to avert a looming government shutdown deadline."

"Federal funding expires on Sept. 30, and without new spending laws, broad swaths of the government would shutter. Republicans control both chambers of Congress, but need support from Democrats in the Senate to pass new spending laws."

Guess we'll see if Speaker Johnson and our MAGA/GOP Senate can pull yet another rabbit out of a hat when it comes to our federal budget.

I also guess Mr. Trump is worried that they'll need Democratic votes in the Senate to roll over for him.

I imagine he sees that as even worse than a do-nothing Congress, which is probably why he's pressing ahead with his project to suspend the federal Constitution, along with all its pesky provisions designed to thwart despotism, as soon as possible.

You must have slept through history class in high school, if you even attended. Southern Democrats before 1965 became Southern Republicans. They were the Confederates left over from the Civil War. The Democratic Party had long and deep roots in the South. It wasn't just a political party, it was an institution that completely dominated Southern politics through kickbacks, political gangs, machine politics, and cartels.

A second Democratic Party developed in the North with an electoral base of Irish immigrants, Catholics, and working-class Americans.
