It literally feels like my auditory system is going haywire because I'm getting new tones every few hours or so. I keep waking up and going to sleep with new sounds, pitches, volumes, etc. Yesterday I woke up with a new morse code tone in my right ear (I used to not have tinnitus in this ear) and now I just got a distorted bouncy sound in my left ear.

I'm currently tapering off of Prednisone which might explain why I'm getting tons of new sounds. It's changing every 2 seconds.

That doesn’t seem to be uncommon, taking and tapering off Prednisone changed the character of some of my spiked tinnitus.

What an utter nightmare. I used to only have tinnitus in my left ear, now I have it in both. Should've never taken Prednisone when I didn't have measurable hearing loss on an audiogram.

For what reason did you take the Prednisone in the first place? I’m assuming a loud noise exposure. It’s likely the tinnitus going to the other ear was going to happen regardless and Prednisone played no part at all.

That being said, the majority of side effects experienced on Prednisone tend to be temporary and clear up within a couple of weeks.

It was microsuction earwax removal in only my left ear (same ear I've always had tinnitus in).

Prednisone gave me a super bad tinnitus spike after taking one pill. Ugh, never again.

      Why?

Isn’t this a good way of charting progress?

Also, isn’t it important to have some sort of record if trying supplements or dietary changes, to see if they affect your tinnitus?

I saw it on the Back to Silence thread. It's a good point I think. Not so much if you have 7 different tones etc. Do you count them?

Yes, I count and keep a daily record. I have a few rhythms and odd noises that play in a sort of random rotation, not so much tones.

I am assuming I'll eventually get bored and stop taking these notes.

I felt as if my tinnitus was finally very slightly improving as I'm very slowly tapering off of the Prednisone (still at 10 mg) until I got a new tone in my left ear randomly lying in bed. It felt like a pressure change happened in my ear and it rung loud for around 20 seconds but the tone has still remained. What do I do? Is this likely due to the prednisone? There's been no loud noise exposure or anything.

This happened a couple hours ago this morning. Maybe 5 minutes after waking up and taking my Prednisone dose and lying on my pillow.

Prednisone, and Prednisone taper, can cause all kinds of weird, usually not permanent tones. You are wasting your time listening to the tones and assessing them until you have been off the Prednisone for at least a month, in my opinion.

How is your tinnitus now? Did the new tones go away after your taper from Prednisone? I am currently tapering and getting new tones as well.
