      Hi everyone,

      I bumped my head with ear plugs in.

      I know the occlusion effect is dangerous.

      Could this be harmful?

      It happened before by accident, it made a thud sound in my head. I've had tinnitus since 6/8/17. I'm worried and stressed about this.

      I'm new to the forum.

      @Luke Hertzog ,
      Welcome to Tinnitus Talk .
      I think you will be fine so try not to worry.
      If the head bang did not need medical care or knocked yourself out you might just get a spike.
      Try put it behind you and don't let any stress or anxiety cause a spike.
      Have a relaxing day or two.
      Let us know how you get on.

      love glynis

      I've done this with earmuffs on when hoovering a few times, kinda scary when it first happens but nothing came of it.

      Not worth worrying. There are bigger fish out there.
      Would be extremely surprised if there was lasting damage from that.

      I would think it'd be harmless to your ears. I think there's a point where the occlusion effect can be harmful but I don't think just bumping your head can do it. I've done the same I'm sure, and also bumped earmuffs, and had loud sounds when earplugs get hit or something like that...I don't think anything ever became of it.

      I think the occlusion effect is perhaps bad when you yell with earplugs in, and in some other cases...but I think bumping your head is not one them. I think the head damage would be what to watch out for, but I understand the concern.
