So I did the caloric test where they test your balance, since the ear controls the balance. I advise people not to do this as it made me have hyperacusis on both ears and develop tinnitus on the right ear. I also have clicking/popping sounds on both ears, especially the right one and have a whooshing sound (like the eardrums are vibrating) on both. The sound of my own voice vibrates and I am sensitive.

This is the caloric testing, where they insert water in each of your ears to make nystagmus (eye movement).

      Well..I am F**ed for good now :(

Sorry to hear about that... Did they advise you of any potential side effects that this test could result in? If not I'd sue the living f**k outta them.

It is crazy how it made the healthy ear bad. .People need to stay away from those tests. My life is also much more worse now.

Give it some time... Did your spike from the fire alarm increased in severity after the caloric test or has it remained the same?

The caloric test was before the fire alarm. The T spike lasted for a week and now its back to baseline but its just a tad bit higher than what it used to be.

What is exactly this test? Measure your balance? What did you do this test for?
Did you go to a specialist?
I think you will be ok in a year....

I would recommend lllt... I know that some people don't respond to very well, but in the few weeks I've been doing it, spikes have been almost nonexistent. Another thing too, the horrible ear pain that I experienced pretty much 24/7 is gone, pretty wild stuff.

The Konftec... To be honest I didn't really expect it to do much but I thought to myself, "what the hell, might as well try it". These last few weeks my usual ear pain has been nonexistent, went to a rather loud social gathering a few days ago and didn't experience any spikes the next day. I did some research and determined that PQQ, cq10, and niacinamide riboside might be beneficial to supplement with the lllt so I've been taking them right before I laser (I happened to already be taking cq10 and NR before lasering, now I just take them before bed with the treatment instead of in the morning).

Even though it is water irrigated in the ear, the pressure and vibrations might have damaged the hair cells. I am getting a hearing exam done just in case. I feel like i hear lesss.

Yes, it tests balance. I did it because i had problems with dizziness. The dizziness was caused by High Blood Pressure and not vestibular damage.

      It caused hearing loss?

I am a bit confused, did you have a spike from the caloric test before you had a spike from the library fire alarm?

I did the caloric test on Jan 15 that same day i noticed my Tinnitus on left went up, the day after i got H in the right ear and some T. Then there was the firealarm in the library which caused a spike for 1 week, i think it was a mix of the test and the spike that caused it, but i covered my ears quickly, the alarm subsided in a minute. Tinnitus screamed louder then ever. I got H on the left ear as well. Now i am dealing with H and T on both ears.

Thank you for clarifying. You have been through a lot lately, and I saw you mentioned that it seems high blood pressure is the cause of your dizziness. Are you taking any medications for high blood pressure? That can cause tinnitus to spike. If it’s severe enough to cause you dizziness, there is a good chance it’s impacting your tinnitus.

If you could try and reduce your anxiety and fears and stop focusing so much on tinnitus and hyperacusis, I believe you would start to make steady improvement.

I have been advising you almost from day one when you joined this forum. Take things easy and stop obsessing over tinnitus and hyperacusis. I have had tinnitus many years and know what worrying over it can do. Many people also share my view. If you are not careful, you are going to end up like a few more people in this forum that haven't made improvements with their tinnitus. Unfortunately it is their constant worrying over it and obsessive behaviour that is halting their progress. I am telling you this to try and help you and it's not an attempt to make you feel worse. Try and change your ways.

      Michael
