Carnosine Can Cure Tinnitus?

I'm trying L-Carnosine soon. i would like to read more. has someone tried this supplement?

So this can help with hearing? That's quite fascinating. Won't cure tinnitus though, as nothing cures this devil.

 

eh, this could certainly be the placebo effect. If you start paying extra attention to your hearing, your experience changes.

 

I too am curious about L-Carnosine. But please know that it may not be risk free. This from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (http://www.bidmc.org/YourHealth/Holistic-Health/Herbs-and-Supplements.aspx?ChunkID=40019):

The use of carnosine has not been associated with any significant side effects. However, the body deploys a range of enzymes, called carnosinases, to break down carnosine. There may be a reason for the presence of these enzymes, and overcoming them by providing large amounts of supplemental carnosine could conceivably cause harm in some as-yet unrecognized way. Maximum safe doses in young children, pregnant or nursing women, or people with severe liver or kidney disease have not been established.

Earlier horn TV noise even eating caused discomfort and increase in t . After a bottle of L carnosine this has improves a great deal.
Along with it I am taking clonazepam 1mg in night and cal mag zinc vipocetene and ocasionaly NAC and LAC so far I would say L carnosine has given best improvement and lasting one.
Others which help is combiflame avoiding peanuts only using potato chicken and rice avoid wheat and sugar. Keeping BP and cholesterol low70 110 I have almost normal life now.

 

I am happy for you, @sanjay doodani. One question that I have to ask, however, is that given the array of supplements and medications you are using, how are you able to parse out the effects of the L-Carnosine, and isolate its efficacy relative to Clonazepam, Vinpocetine, and other items you list?

The effect of L carnosine is very quick u feel the change in t and t does not spike on a nap or loud sounds

Hi guys!!!! i agree with sanjay...Effect was immediate ...L carnosine has shown effect within few days if not hours...as far as i am concern....i took 2 tabs s day one in night and one in morning...sorta 12 hrs 1 tab...Besides L- Carnosine i am taking NAC and 0.125Mg of Clonozepam (Rivotril)

would you mind being a bit more specific about how you feel the L carnosine has helped you?

do you have hearing loss with your t?

Which brand of L carnosine are you using and what strength are the capsules?

Were you taking the Nac (dose?) and clonaz prior to trialling the carnosine?

From memory, L carnosine is a precursor to Acetylcholine ( I think james kaltenbach is currently undergoing research into AcH precursors as a way of suppressing the t signal?)

I have been off this forum for a good while, as I no longer cared about my t till a couple of days ago. Now I care. Back to researching cures that don't exist.

 

Carnosine breaks down in the digestive tract, and is absorbed into the bloodstream poorly.

A person has to take at least 2-3 grams of carnosine at a time to get enough in the blood.

since i have started taking L carnosine ....reactivness and hyperacusis have almost disappeared..( well prior to that i must say it had substantially decreased...this sorta pushed the pace)
Secondly i noticed it stated changing tones few times a day.....(like teeee would become tahhhhhhh sothing like that)
And all in all T noise reduced and gone more into background and more bearable.

To sum it all ...I think it helped the healing faster!!!( i am not doctor..but that's what i feel)

NAC ( 1 tab a day for last 9 months) and Clonozepam ( 1/4th tab a day for last 6 months) i have been taking

 

yeah and hardly had any spikes after taking L carnosine!!

i am taking Jarrows L-carnosine...500mg tab twice a day

 

Deb...i do have hearing loss...it was mild-to moderate when t started..now its mild hearing loss....( but all this improvement happened prior to L carnosine...i haven checked afterwards but i feel hearing improvement...in terms of clarity...my good ear and bad ear hearing capacity is slowly matching up...!)

 

Is this safe to take with NAC and GABA?
