I have a cold or bad allergies with an itchy throat, sneezing and now my right ear is extremely clogged and I cannot get it to 'pop'. Luckily, so far my tinnitus doesn't seem to be increased because of it but it feel all out of balance and out of it because it's pressurized. Any suggestions? Will Benadryl help?

Thanks. Is Benadryl safe to take in terms of my tinnitus? I've never had this happen and it's miserable. And I think it is actually starting to worsen my tinnitus which is freaking me out!

You can take Benadryl. It might actually help.

Try Sudafed behind the counter and maybe a EarPopper if that doesn't work. Valsalva maneuver is too dangerous. My left ear doesn't crack when swallowing right now, but unsure if it relates to my tinnitus? I've been trying Allegra.

Why is the valsalva maneuver dangerous? I have been doing that forever..

My goats intuition senses danger. No, someone I know ruptured their eardrum doing the valvalsa maneuver, so too much pressure can apparently cause that, but may be rare. EarPopper is controlled pressure to prevent that from happening.

Natalie you look like Belinda Carlisle. I do hope your T goes away. I like the way you have your hair, I'm guessing holding the static ear open, that is my plan when my hair grows back out. I hope your ear unplugged.

Thank you. It did unplug after a few days. And I don't wear my hair like this for my ears, I just like it. :)

Hi Natalie, beautiful family! Looks like this resolved on its own but I found that using a daily antihistamine (Claritan) has helped me avoid colds that plug up my ears. I have only had a couple colds that have been that bad since I started using it about a year ago. This coming off having almost cold after cold with very few breaks in between.
