      Hello all!

For all of those whose tinnitus increases substantially with a cold, flu or nasal inflammation, i would like to ask you the following:

1 - What is the cause of your Tinnitus?
2 - Do you have any hearing loss? Or did the hearing loss appear after the cold?

Thank you all and best regards!

      Acoustic trauma
I am going through a heavy cold and ears are roaring loud. I had a very good month previous to this spike so I guess in my case, yes, cold spikes my tinnitus.

I have mild hearing loss and my tinnitus is due to an acoustic trauma.

      Multi-factorial
I currently have a flu like illness and my T spiked until I took Benadryl (which hasn't previously had an effect), after which it returned to baseline.

Mine is caused by antibiotic induced hearing loss/ototoxicity.

      1. Ototoxic reaction (prozac and propranolol).
      2. I think I have hearing loss, but yet to be confirmed. Came before the cold.

My cold was bad and verged on bronchitis. I was at death's door for 3 or so days.

Doesn’t it seem reasonable that when one has a cold or is stuffed up, their hearing is affected. Whether by fluid in the ear, or whatever... less hearing of the outside world, the louder our inside world is (tinnitus).

“Benadryl is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant, the same as alcohol.”

Again, it is common sense that tinnitus may reduce with a depressant.
