Sure, damage can be immediate, but are people with already damaged hearing, presumably cautious about their ears, let's say, rushing out to the gun-range right after taking FX-322?

 

I was just referring to NIHL in general. They are definitely not running to the gun range afterwards, but I think the theory Chad presented is plausible.

 

Does FX-322 restore hair cells only? I read somewhere it's not only for hair cells but cochlear synapses as well.

 

It only restores hair cells. The hair cells that it restores have fresh cochlear synapses but it doesn't re-connect old synapses to old hair cells. At least they haven't provided any evidence of this in their preclinical research.

 

Does that mean the old synapses lost cause tinnitus? Do we know if growing new ones can help revert the issue?

 

They could. We don't know. That's where OTO-413 may help.

 

I wonder if a series of treatments will help keep more of the gains as the daughter cells develop more to the needs of the cochlea. After all the relationship between the progenitor cells and the inhibition factor isn't fully known and could be hampering the full development of the cells into proper hair cell replacement.

 

If one could understand how it works in birds when they damage their hearing I guess we would have the answer?

Or is there more to the difference between birds and humans than that our progenitor cells are ”turned off” while the ones in birds are not?

 

The difference is that bird/reptilian/amphibian progenitors can still be signaled by the body to "turn on" and complete mitosis. Mammals lack the ability to signal the progenitor cells in the cochlea when needed, but the functionality is still there. This is what FX-322 is trying to do. Note that mammals can can still do it in places like the small intestine and brain.

 

In humans there is a chemical that blocks the cell division for our progenitor cells. As I understand it both FX formulae are meant to obscure or prevent this chemical from being received by the progenitor cells.

 

I experience some residual inhibition by introducing 7000 Hz noise, but hearing aids have never helped me.

 

Anyone know if there is a chance that the FDA might announce a surprise approval out of nowhere if there continues to be no adverse reactions? Since Frequency Therapeutics have Fast Track status, maybe they won't have to go through the full process.

Fast Track does not mean they can skip trials, it means they can have more interactions with the FDA and the final application review process is shaved down from 1 year to 6 months.

Will they allow expanded access/compassionate use if it makes it to Phase 3 and is still safe?

 

I would wait for the Phase 2 results first. Are they due in August 2022? Or am I confused with OTO-313? I I imagine many seasoned people on here have seen multiple trials fail at Phase 2.

 

FX-322 data is expected Q4 of this year or Q1 of 2023. If you wait to buy until after Phase 2 data, your potential gains will be cut down drastically if you are purchasing it after positive Phase 2 data as the price should see some recovery then. It's higher risk/higher reward if you buy now.

 

I would love to buy their shares, but unfortunately I can't find a seller, web page or anything where it is sold here in Slovakia. If anyone knows of any seller that sells Frequency Therapeutics stock in Slovakia, let me know.

 

How do you actually buy stock? It's something I have never done.

 

You open up a brokerage account. It's like opening up a checking account with a bank but instead of writing checks to buy whatever you want with your bank account, you use the money in your brokerage account to buy stocks. TD Ameritrade, Fidelity, Robinhood are just a few examples of brokerages you can use.

 

I use IG.com. There's many others obviously but if you go to their website you'll find all the details about how to fund an account and deal there.

They are stock options being awarded to each of the board of directors since they just held their annual shareholder meeting.

 

These are stock options, they give the person the right to buy the stock at a certain price. Frequency Therapeutics recently had its annual meeting of stockholders, and as part of this they gave the management team stock options. Otonomy and Decibel did the same thing this week.

All 3 companies gave options at the current market price, which is good because it means the options are worthless unless the stock price goes up. So management only gets rewarded for good company performance. I wouldn't read into this any further than that.
