Tinnitus Since
10/2013
Cause of Tinnitus
acoustic neuroma
I am headed out the door to travel 225 miles for my Gamma Knife surgery on Nov 20, 2017 to treat an acoustic neuroma.

I feel all alone going into the great unknown. I am terrified. I left work and not one co-worker or boss even acknowledged that I was going. I have no idea what to expect.

I don't normally ask for moral support but I could sure use some words of encouragement, or would like to hear from somebody that has actually had this done.

We are all thinking of you and looking forward to hearing how you got on .
Stay positive and sending you all our love.
Love glynis xxx

Wishing you the best of luck!

I was in your shoes last year for another type of surgery (stapedotomy), and I remember my morale back then, so I am sympathetic. I'm glad I did it though, in spite of a bit of a difficult recovery: after my surgery, I had packing in my ear for a while to maintain the ear drum still while it was reattaching back to the ear canal. That meant a feeling of pressure and discomfort, in addition to zero hearing abilities (and therefore, a very difficult T to cope with).
In a gamma knife surgery, you won't get your ear drum open. In fact there's no incision at all: the "cutting" part is done through focusing of rays on specific tissue areas from the outside, with minimal impact on surrounding areas.
Recovery should be quite smooth. Read up here.

Hang in there. It'll be over in no time.
