I haven't been to the beach in a while, and I really miss swimming. I always found it relaxing. Most places are too crowded and loud for me, and I don't know if I can find a quiet, tranquil place.

I could bring underwater earplugs but I've never used them before and I'm not sure if they're safe to wear.

What are your experiences with going swimming?

No problems swimming at all for me infact while on holiday earlier this month I completed my PADI open water scuba diving licence.
Go and have fun :)

If you go swimming, try to not get water in your ears. Other than that, the beach is awesome and i miss the beaches I use to go to :)

Ironic to see this today! My kids and I headed to a local beach today. It's not a free beach and it was a bit cooler so I figured it would not be crowded. We arrived loaded with sand toys and sunscreen, only to find out the beach was closed due to water conditions.

Oh well, went swimming in our neighbors' pool by ourselves!

Does anyone use earplugs when swimming? I'd like to get some to ensure water doesn't get in my ears.

The sound of the sea is lovely so try think on the positive side and take swimming plugs with you.
Go with the flow and dont feel you have to make everyone happy just go at your own pace and have fun.
dont forget sun cream and ear plugs.
let us know how it goes as will be nice hear you had a great time.
love glynis

Whats the problem with water in the ears?
I'm more afraid of being unable to go because of hyperacusis. People can be loud at beaches, so I'm considering bringing the underwater earplugs so the noises won't seem too loud and I can still wear earplugs while swimming.

Whats the problem with water in the ears?
Risk of swimmer's ear (infection in outer ear canal) or that annoying feeling that there is water stuck in your ear. Some people are more prone to it than others. Oddly enough, that happened to me often as a kid -- and only in the ear that lost hearing.

I very rarely swim under water, but I need to now to demonstrate to my kids. Figure with my history, I'd like to avoid irritating my ear further.
