So, I am almost 3½ months into this and these past few weeks I feel like my tinnitus has gotten slightly worse... I'm not a 100% sure it has, but it feels like it :(

So I am hoping to hear from some of you that it can get worse in the beginning and then settle down for good at some point. Can it?

The way it is right now, I can't live with that.....its just too intrusive and I am just waiting for the day to pass so I can go to sleep again :(

I'd stop taking any CBD oil. Cannabinoids are known to increase tinnitus. Has ENT doctors been of any use?

      @TheDanishGirl ,
It could be down to your benzo reduction so pop in to see your doctor.

      HI @TheDanishGirl

I have had noise trauma with severe tinnitus and hyperacusis so know how it can make a person feel. I agree with @glynis, that the reduction in your clonazepam is probably the reason the tinnitus seems more intrusive. As I have mentioned in many of my posts. Tinnitus in the early stages and this includes up to 6 months and beyond, can fluctuate quite a lot and for this reason medication such as clonazepam and antidepressants can be so helpful. They act as a safety net so a person doesn't become too down. It is a very delicate period that one goes through as it's a person's emotions that are affected. Just when the tinnitus seems to be calming down and one thinks they've turned a corner, out of the blue the tinnitus becomes intrusive again and this can affect a person quite considerably. I suggest that you have a word with your medical team if the tinnitus doesn't calm down.

      All the best
      Michael

Im sorry that you feel so bad. Your tinnitus journey is still very new and all the emotions and energy spent on it, can trigger and increase of your tinnitus. Your benzo taper could possibly be increasing, your tinnitus levels. I wish you the best of luck, this is a tough situation and it's not easy at all.

please remain strong and now that we are here to support you :)

Maybe I should stop....just to see what happens. I can always begin taking it again.

And no. The ENT i saw was of no use sadly :(

But I have not reduced my benzo dosis further. Actually I had to go back to taking 1 tablet a day instead of the reduced dosis which was 3/4 tablet.
I just couldnt take it :(

I know how badly you want the tinnitus to get quieter and even go away. We all do, mine is much louder, lately and I understand why and i'm not going to stress myself over it. tapering is not an easy thing at all. I remember when i was tapering and the stress levels for me where high.

I have this expo coming up tomorrow night, with 200 people in this group and my ears(both) are ringing SUPER loud right now. Beyond intrusive...pure DEMON level ringing.....

I am wondering if i want to go or not, it might be very loud in there. I'll most likely go, my ears will not love it there, but i careless what tinnitus thinks :) So please know that I am with you and i know how bad all of this feels. Stay strong and know that YOU/WE....All of us that suffer from this stuff are champions!!!!

We all want it to get quieter. So that's why we must fight to hopefully get rid of it. I feel pretending it isn't there will make things get better.

Realistically, it's much better to concentrate on habituation and helping people achieve it.

There are promising hearing-restoration trials starting soon, so we might see a treatment within 10 years. But if they fail/are not helpful for T/H, habituation might be the only option available in my lifetime.

Hi @TheDanishGirl - I notice that whenever I have heightened periods of intense stress, the volume of my tinnitus increases greatly but then after a period of time (say a few hours) then returns to baseline (which isn't that great but still... better than much louder). There is agreement amongst all members that stress exacerbates tinnitus and it can only increase anxiety and depression. I wish there was some magic pill to ameliorate stress but it is surely a part of each person's life at times.

I hope you feel better soon Sandra. Take care.

      Where has this been proven?

Many children with Autism or brain disorders use CBD to reduce the number of seizures and epilepsy side effects. I also think it depends which strain of CDB oil is used and the % content. I am using CBD and taking 1mL twice a ay and I feel like it has reduced my anxiety tremendously.

My CBD oil is 5% and I have taken 4 drops each day but sadly I have not experienced a reduction in my anxiety level. Even with the oil, the AD and benzo I am taking I am still quite anxious :(

You are anxious cause you are thinking about it too much. You are thinking about the new loud noise. If it even is louder. Sometimes when I'm stressed my T feels louder even tho I know it's the way it has always been.

Lay in bed with soft music that masks your T and let the benzo do it's job. Think positive thoughts. I know it's easier said than done but we have all been in ur shoes so we speak of experience, even if ive "only" had my T for less than a year.

You have only had tinnitus for around 8 months @Raphael7713 but speak with the maturity and knowledge of a tinnitus veteran. You are one hundred percent right in the advice that you have given to Sandra. I see that you will go far in your tinnitus journey and habituate. I hope to see you around for some time as it's people like you that will give others hope and belief to carry on when tinnitus is difficult to handle.

      Hi @TheDanishGirl
How much oil and what dosage of benzos? How much apart? I ask cause I took some CBD but it only made me more anxious because of not knowing how will it affect me, and it did affect my T in right ear, got fullness and fleeting T, and also dry mouth so I wonder how much time should pass to be safe to take benzos? I take valium (Normabel)..
