Cause of Tinnitus
Acoustic neuroma
Hello everyone
I'm Louise and I have now had tinnitus for about 2 years. I have been diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma and have had radiotherapy. Although it is fairly small I have constant tinnitus that is impacting on my life significantly. I have tried noise therapy, earplugs, distraction techniques but it truly is unbearable.

I just want to know I'm not alone and, because tinnitus is invisible, people do not understand the effect it had on you and your life.

Hi Louise,

The best advice I can give you is to work towards habituating to it. In order for this to happen, you first need to stop fighting it; let it win. By doing so, your mind will gradually accept the ringing once it understands that tinnitus is not lethal and eventually get so sick of it that it will no longer cause your stress and anxiety levels to rise. This is the optimal solution! Best of luck.
