Well... I think I might have mild tinnitus

Out of the blue one night I got a riniging in my ear and 4 days later it's still there but I can only hear it when it's quite loudish I never stress about it I just let it happen and do what I need to do, I just have a question will it get worse within time or will it stay the same? Because I can deal with it now, just don't want it getting worse, I'm making sure to stay away from loud noises too

Oh I also have anxiety and ocd aswell

Well, now that you have some tinnitus (there is a very good chance it will go away) unfortunately you will have to adjust your life a little bit to accommodate it. Since you don't know how you got it, you need to be extra careful.
Having anxiety and thus stress can be a trigger. so is medicine and sound exposure.

I would recommend you do the following:

1: stay away from clubs, loud bars and concerts at least for a WHILE. Your ears need rest, and loads of it to try and see if it can mitigate the damage itself.
2: stay away from headphones. Especially the in ear buds, but also the ones that go over your head. That is way too much loud volume so close to your eardrum.
3: be very careful with ototoxic medicine. This is a certain class of medicine that causes a lot of hearing problems. A lot of doctors are unaware what is or isent it. So always check with the pharmacy, and also do your own research. If you feel your ringing increases a lot after taking medicine even though it says it's okay, you should probably stop and check with your doctor.
4: be careful with others harmful things that can cause us problems. I.e. Sonic ear cleanings at the dentist, ear wax removal at the ENT that is not done manually, planes can cause some people harm (wear some construction headphones).

With tinnitus you never know. Some medications, situations could make it louder. As a general rule avoid loud places and people and try to reduce your stress...

Oh I'm not stressing about it, when I hear the noise at nights and quite places I just let it be there and carry on watching tv or reading Facebook or whatever.

@jer definitely, I'm not stressing or worry about it at all, yeah when I hear the noise I think about it a little bit but I don't get annoyed I just carry on with whatever I'm doing

      Hi all.

This will be a short post. But does anyone possibly think that the antidepressants what I've been taking could have caused this ringing noise in my ear? Because I never had it before I took them

      Thanks.

      Hi @Paulmanlike,
You have been put on them for a reason so I would have a talk with your doctor first.
Nortryptaline or Amitryptaline would be a good alternative as can reduce tinnitus for some people.
      Love glynis x

      @glynis ah right thanks.

Yeah I've read that antidepressants can cause it but it's rare, so you think it's best to talk with my doctor and getting my ears tested?
