Hi,
I've had tinnitus for about 5 months, but I keep getting new symptoms and sounds with my tinnitus. Now I seem to have some strange static like "hissing". I can hear it and feel it 24/7, no white noise masks it, and I can physically feel it.
It's somewhat like a faint 'sizzle'.
I've had it for a week on top of my regular tinnitus sounds.
It seems to get louder the longer I am awake.
Anyone else go through this sort of thing?

... and was sleeping when I suddenly awoke in middle of night to discover that I was now affected with serious tinnitus and hyperacusis, and also to find I was now completely deaf in my right ear. My ears were fine prior to this. That was about a year and half ago and there has been absolutely no improvement. I did all the tests (including an MRI), did all the treatment (including Prednisone orally and injected directly into middle left ear). Zippo,... nada. I am 100% deaf in right ear and have hyperacusis in left ear with major tinnitus on right side. The doctors really have no answer. There is nothing wrong with the mechanics of my ears. It is most likely some sort of brain injury with the auditory nerve. I'm learning to live with it.
