Hello I have had the T's for nearly 15 years and until a few months ago I could deal with the constant noise but for some reason it spiked up and has not gone down. I noticed that I'm having problems with my social life and I that I can almost account for by the anxiety this stuff brings on. I have an appointment with a pharmacist about this situation and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how to lower this anxiety problem. Oh I was wondering if using headphones could be exacerbating this stuff. I use the headphones while watching the tv.
Thanks for your time and I know that by just reading this forum I'm not the only one in this boat. Jon

PS. I find myself laying down more often and just trying to get away from the noise.

I have had t for 15 years to thought I had it licked. But it came back with full vengence why I don't know. Back to the old anxiety again its like starting back at the very beginning. I use klonopin for the anxiety and music with the ear phones on low through out the day. I'm hoping in time things settle down for u and me.

Hay thanks for the feedback anne:) Guess your in my boat also:( One thing I do have is a good wife who is understanding and that helps. My audiologist is working on getting me a set of hearing aids that suppose to mask the tinnitus plus if I want to do trt with them. I worked for the federal government and retired 10 years ago and they will pay for the aids it just a matter of doing the right paper work. Klonopin? never used that but I have found out one this that helps and that Oxicotin but in very small amounts. It really take the edge oft as I notice it about 1/2 hour after I take a pill. But its very highly addictive so I do not over due it. Oh those aids boy do they charge an arm and a leg! $5,000 talk about being ripped oft. Oh well hope that my claim goes through and I can get underway with my Cadillac hearing aids-Jon

Made a mistake yesterday went to a car auction and did not bring ear plugs:( I had my hearing aids in but soon decided to find some tissue paper to make up some temporary ear plugs. Anyway the t's are up a little bit this morning and I learned a lesson carry at all times some ear plugs.

Just a question and was wondering if anyone else goes though this process of sleeping and waking up! Sometime when I wake up I'm in a flight or flight mode. This is bad news as my adrenalin is starting to kick in and I was wondering how to help fight this situation. I know its not good but cannot figure out how to stop my inner body from going in to this situation.

Yup...every night...but I guess what can you expect when you wake up to an internal siren. It is our bodies working naturally, sensing a threat.

I just lay there for a couple of hours, freaking out, then I eventually crash of exhaustion. Maybe this will get old, and after time you just don't care anymore.

Telis thanks for your input:( I have had this stuff for probably 15 years but just recently has gotten worst. I take Gaba at night and that helps to sleep. It also is suppose to calm the nerves down. Just recently got a set of Zen hearing aids and they do help. When I do get up in the morning I take a shower right away and then eat breakfast. Next I put in my hearing aids with the Zen features and if the noise is really loud than I go for my second setting of gong noise. Seems to help as I do not notice the noise as much. Oh I do take a xanics with the Gaba. I found out when I first got my T's many years ago the best thing to help it from not bothering me was just to keep busy with life stuff. Xanax is probably the best meds to calm you down as it worked for me when I first got my T's. I think I from the noise for alot of years but for some reason it came back about six months ago and so I have been working on hibulating again to the constant noise. Know where your at and I feel for you buddy-Jon

I also know just what you mean about just lying there in bed. I do not know what it is but sometimes I just want to lay there and not move. But eventually I get up and get busy.
