Hidey everyone!

I'm 24 from Tennessee. Couldn't get to sleep due to the ringing in my ears and stumbled upon this place while Googling to see if anything's been found lately that helps this, and it seems like a right nice place so I figured I'd join.

I couldn't tell you when or why I first started getting it, it seems like I've had it ever since I can remember. I honestly can't remember a time I didn't have ringing in my ears. For the longest time I always just figured that's how everyone was until I started reading about tinnitus. It's a constant, never ending deal for me, always seems to be happening. It's always effecting my sleep every night and ruins any quiet time I try to get.

I ain't ever been to no doctor about it. For better or for worse, I've always been a fella that tends to avoid going to a doctor as much as I can, and from what I've read from different places it seems like there ain't much they're gonna tell me that I haven't already read.

Though something I have been wondering, I've read a few times about something being wrong with your jaw can cause this. This ain't nothing I've ever talked to a doctor or a dentist about neither, but I've always had a bit of a goofy jaw, always cracking and popping in and out of place. It don't ever hurt outside of the rare times it gets hung out of place and no dentist has ever told me anything's wrong with my jaw after x-rays and stuff, so I've never much been concerned with it, but reading about a possible connection got my curious about it. Has anyone on here had an experience with something in your jaw causing the ringing in your ears? What's the connection between the two?

Bummer it don't seem like they're anywheres close to figuring this thing out. I've always wondered my whole life what silence sounds like, but I guess hearing something like that just ain't in the cards for me!

Have a good 'n y'all!

I would get your doctor check your ears for wax build up and have your hearing tested.
Then get your dentist do a jaw x-ray and examine your jaw also to see if you have TMJ....lots of love glynis
