Anyone had any good luck with hormone replacement therapy (for menopause) not affecting their tinnitus?

      Hi Virginia,

Did you ever get around to HRT?

I'd be interested to hear your story.

      Hello there,

Haven't seen you about for a while. i hope you are ok.

i think I read a post of yours where you were questioning the impact of menopause/perimenopause on your tinnitus?

I think that is why I may be relapsing again.

Can I ask where you are at with it all?

And happy Easter. He is risen!

I am on HRT. Low-dose. It has neither helped nor hurt my tinnitus.

I was on HRT for menopause and it never had any impact on my tinnitus.

      Hope that helps. X

Glad to read that HRT didn't impact your tinnitus.

Can I ask if you think menopause has impacted on your tinnitus in anyway?

As mentioned on other threads, I draw a correlation between the onset of irregular cycles and relapses in my tinnitus. With the escalation of my perimenopause, my tinnitus is back to severe and debilitating.

I was doing fine with my tinnitus for ten years, then along came perimenopause and it caused a big escalation in tinnitus for me. Hopefully yours will settle in time, be careful with medications that some doctors may suggest for hot flushes and sleep, some may be more harmful than HRT.

I’ve just recently started HRT (1 week) as I’ve noticed a massive spike in my tinnitus which I’m putting down to perimenopause. I haven’t noticed any changes either way so far. Keep strong ladies xx

I'm currently going through hormone issues due to a pituitary tumour. I'm on medication to help with it (generic not helping as good as branded), but I still think hormones are playing a big part in my emotions and my ability to deal with my new tinnitus (changed from something else). Getting everything level would be a massive help as it seems my body and mind is against me. It's been horrible for me lately.

This thread has been enlightening for me. I’m 49 years old and perimenopausal. My tinnitus has gotten worse this year and I’m now curious as to whether these hormonal changes may be the causation. I might go and get some blood tests done and also will check my B12 levels. My neck has a slight curve these days and I’m lopsided. Lots of neck and shoulder tightness a lot of the time. Maybe this ‘structural stuff’ may be contributing to my worsening too.

@Static Sophie 73, I too have sadly noticed a jump in my tinnitus. I’m 50 and perimenopausal. I’ve had loads of tension in my neck and shoulders due to the stress. I started HRT a few weeks ago but just came off after feeling lots of pressure in my ears. I’ve since read oestrogen can affect the inner ear. So very frustrating.

Our age and hormones changing may be the cause of our worse tinnitus in recent times. It’s very frustrating - so many things can affect tinnitus! It’s like walking on egg shells.
