      Cause of Tinnitus:
I had polyp removed from my eardrum when I was fourteen.
Hi, I started with tinnitus in 2006, in the 1980's I had a polyp removed off my right ear drum, but I was told after loads of hearing test that my hearing will not recover 100% as my ear drum is now perforated.

When I was an infant I always suffered with ear or throat infections, I also had to have grommets put in both ears for a while as I got fluid behind my ear drums, I never forget the pain when they took them out.

But years later in 2006 I started with this low humming noise in my perforated ear drum along with some dizziness, over the years other noises have joined in, I notice it gets louder when I'm under pressure at work.

In 2006 I went to see a specialist who sent me for a MRI scan in which they where meant to send it back to the specialist but didn't!

I was told by the specialist that the scan didn't show anything and that he can't do anything for me (very abrupt) and it will probably go worse as you get older, I thought well thanks for nothing!, so in other words put up with it : (

I sleep ok but if it gets too loud I can struggle.

I think if you have scaring on your drums that won't help as I know mine are.
We just have to find what works best for us to cope with it and make sure we get enough sleep and protect our ears as needed.
