Hello! I have been suffering with tinnitus for 3 years now. I have ups and downs. My family is supportive but they really can't relate. I just want to connect with people who understand how hard this is and see if anyone out there has any suggestions for coping- not fighting it each day. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk @cdg214 ,

You have come to the best place for support around the clock.
We all understand what tinnitus can do to a person in the first few months, socially, emotionally and physically.

As your tinnitus journey begins you will get to know more about it (try not Google negative things)
You will learn to deal with unwanted emotions and sleep loss and learn about sound therapy and masking sounds day and night to help distract your tinnitus.
You will learn what helps you get through tough times and make the most of good times.
You will more than likely have a MRI,be seen by ENT and audiology.
Mood swings will come and go but anything lasting for weeks on end needs support with talk therapy and medication.
You might not feel like eating but make sure you do.

You need to push to stay happy and this might mean putting in extra effort in to enjoy things even if you don't want to socialise.
We can curl up in a ball and cry or fight and fight to stay positive and show our ears who's the boss and try keep busy.
Make time to relax and exercise also and enjoy walks in the fresh air .
Stay positive and we will help you all we can .

      Love glynis

Welcome to the forum. You are in the right place where most of us have been where you are and we understand your struggle deeply. As for the suggestions, besides those given to you here, you can try read up as many success stories as you can as in there are people's story of struggle and triumph over the tyranny of the T bully. These folks walk their talk and they don't talk about theories but what really have helped them. Collectively they offer wisdom and guideline for success. Try to copy success and see what work best for you. A few years back I was hit by ultra high pitch T and severe hyperacusis. Both T & H turned me into a mess emotionally and physically and I never thought I could recover. But never say never. I learned strategies from others via their success stories and copy them, and I have some of my own. Today I live a normal, productive and absolutely enjoyable life. I wrote my success stories like others did and list many helpful strategies. If you are interested in them, for brevity here is the link to my story. While in the success stories forum, make sure you read as many as you can to give you hope and calm your nerves. Anxiety and stress can aggravate T so reading success stories will help you and even may tame your T. Take good care. God bless.
