      There are 2 options here:

Either it is the lack of confidence in their product, or horrible public relations skills.

I hope it is the latter of the two.

Or... It could be less about them and more about the trough of disillusionment stage of the hype cycle, which I knew was gonna come.

This thread and its predecessor were always emotional rollercoasters. The mood has been alternating between euphoria, skepticism and doom every few days for at least a year. @kelpiemsp posted that his tinnitus went away? We're saved! Study result release delayed? Neuromod is a scam! Someone read a negative Facebook comment on MuteButton from 2014? This crap will never work! And so on.

It seems we're in a skepticism period right now. Doesn't matter, as soon as an early adopter writes a longer, hopeful comment, it will turn again. :)

Option 3 - we are all just REALLY impatient.

Impatient is not the right word here.

Many people's lives are hanging in the balance and Neuromod is well aware of this.

Public relations are virtually the backbone of any startup company.
Considering the situation we are in, little bit of info here and there goes a long way towards calming the emotions or speculations.

Again, they must be well aware of this.

The main concern is that after the Q&A (good for them on that one), the communication from their end pretty much ceased to exist.

This is not a new toaster oven people are waiting on.

This could be a life saving device for many.

      Regarding Neuromod's lack of communication:

Quite a few pages back I did some back of the envelope calculations on Neuromod's current capacity, and their addressable market. The gist is that even current demand far exceeds Neuromod's capacity to deliver (case in point: all 2019 appointments have filled up many weeks ago).

Which means that further hype could actually be counterproductive to them. There's no point in creating demand for your service while you have no way of satisfying it. That only loses goodwill.

Of course they could put out some low-impact communications now and then, but I think their lack of marketing is perfectly understandable and rational. We can expect them to become more active once they have more clinics and thus supply they can sell.

Sufferers just need a "I started the treatment four weeks ago and my tinnitus is getting a lot better!" post.

Coming at this from a different perspective, consider the possibility that Neuromod may have launched this before they were ready to, in response to consumer demand. They don't have any additional clinics on-stream yet, haven't managed to get the latest trial report through the peer-review yet and haven't ironed out the initial UAT issues yet. Weighed against those negatives, they had a potential customer base - effectively this website - throughout the first half of 2019 screaming for the device to be released NOW!!!!!

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If they don't release the device and put off the launch date until they're ready, everyone's screaming at them 'I can't wait that long!!!!' - so they launch from a sub optimal position and now people are screaming at them 'you're amateurs!!!'

Maybe we need to wait until the early adopters are 4 weeks+ in to their treatment?

Or what if their target demographic is people that will react the best to the placebo effect as well as people that will spontaneously recover?

All of this could be easily avoided by providing some updates instead of radio silence. Don't get me wrong, I got what you meant and I think I agree with it, but those changes in mood, pessimism and every emotional change that can be seen in this thread are closely related to lack of communication from their side.

Just an example > We're experiencing high demand. We're orry for the fact that you're experiencing such a long response and waiting times, but we wanted to bring this to at least some of the sufferers as soon as possible even though we were not quite ready yet. We're working hard on strengthening our supply chain, hiring new staff and doing our best with ongoing discussions with another clinics and healthcare providers, BAM.

By the way, do you think that they are planning to revise the device in the next few years or continue the research and refining the parameters in the future, or is this about the best that they could do at this moment and it's take it or leave it? It seems to me that Hubert Lim kind of finished his quest there and it's not expected to use his expertise in the future as he's returning back to the University of Minnesota?

I'll do a detailed update at the four week mark, but pleased to say it's been a good first week for me. Not needed sound therapy at night and my tinnitus is less intrusive. No adverse effects.

I met a Canadian chap when I was there on the 6th. Don't know if you're on the forum?!

I would be much more optimistic. The clinical trials with Lenire were huge for a medical device, more than the standard, and results were shown - as an optimistic person i believe they are probably a more start-up company than a Pfizer, Bayer or other top pharma companies, and probably they are more a medical company focused into research than a huge marketing department.

I believe in science, and right now there is data from them showing reductions in the THI scale.

Bottom line, I believe this is a small company that can't handle so much stuff, but they have invested time in a device which is likely to be effective as shown in their studies.

Which in itself, I feel, should be reason enough for proper treatments to be developed ASAP.

Deteriorating faith in medical practice is definitely not good.

There will be data when it gets past peer review and it’s published in a scientific journal.

      Hopefully this will be soon.

In fairness they aren’t going to give you the full technical explanation in their marketing / on their website as that would just confuse the average patient.

Well no it doesn't, but then, it's not a piece of scientific literature being submitted for peer review.

So I don't understand what your point is?

It is very vague. There are many biochemical processes involved that they don't explain. It's like saying,
"Here is how a car works:
      1. You put gas in it.
      2. You step on the accelerator.
      3. Car go vroom vroom."

Which is honestly a fine explanation. IF you're explaining how a car works to someone who's never seen or heard of a car. (y)

Sorry are we expecting them to add biochemical processes onto their website?

And are we expecting them to assume people will even understand that if they did?

There have been multiple users by now reporting first positive effects (one on this very page), but their comments tend to get ignored or met with, “but you haven’t had tinnitus long enough!”, or, “that’s coincidence!”

Some people just want to complain.
