After reading the threads on this forum, I got the impression that the volume and the pitch of T that one ends up with is usually different from that during the first month. I would like to see whether this impression is correct.

I forgot to include that option, but I fixed it within 5 minutes of creating this poll. Now the last option says "it never got better".

That 70 percent is only seven votes as of now. It's not like 7,000 people voted. Everyone whose T got better is not likely spending their days checking TT regularly, so they're quite likely to not see this poll.

Plus, how long voters had T would be important to consider. Are they still in the first year and trying to habituate? I'm about six months in, I'm not sure my vote would be a very accurate representation of overall tinnitus suffers since whose to say mine won't get better within the first year.

On an anecdotal side, every person I know with tinnitus said it improved.

First of all, give this poll a couple of days, or a week.

I admit that I expected the distribution of the answers to be different. However, I also expected that the results will be biased as people who had improved are unlikely to be visiting this site on a regular basis.

Same here! I had exchanged messages with about 5 people who said they had improved. They are also no longer visiting this site. I myself had improved (until a secondary trauma had erased a lot of that progress).

I voted for it never got better but it was never unbearable at first anyway.

Right. I think there are too many factors to consider, a poll would need to be very detailed: an if this response, then this question.

But I applause you for making a poll, I just don't want anyone to be too discouraged if the results tip towards no improvement.

Had minor T like most people here complain about, but ended up severe along with a lot of other ear symptoms. At first it sounded like a ringing (eeeeee static) that you would get for a few days after a concert or club, and only really heard in the quiet, was quite easy to get used to, could just turn the TV up, go outside, listen to background music etc now it's not easy at all, and throughout the years its gotten progressively worse, I loose more hearing, plus I'm getting very tired of living like this. Every hour is a battle, it's taking a major toll on my general health. Life gets very tedious after a few years living in this way.

Just to note: I don't have noise induced T so anxious scared folks with minor T, don't freak out. Just because it worked out like this for me, it doesn't mean the same thing happens to you. I did major damage to my ears/brain with a pressure injury, and concussion to start, then worsened it all with a ton of drugs, cause had absolutely nothing to do with noise, although I can't be around much of it anymore.

Mine lessened after 2 months from a 9-10 to a 7-8 where it has stayed. I selected 2 months, but I wouldn't say that it's 'significantly more bearable'. That would be more like a 5-6 or lower.

Came on gradually and very mild, got worse suddenly in April '16 and stopped meds that I believed to be ototoxic. Then made it again much worse in December due to acoustic trauma. Since then, reactivity got a lot better, pitch & volume slightly.

In short: lots of HL and T that is much worse compared to the onset. But I am coping fairly well these days. I'd rather get rid of the HL than of the loud T.

You should make the sondage differentiating from the cause of the T!. If you put all together you mess up everything, maybe it is what device seller company wants!

very mild T in the beginning that came and went, a month later constant T that was pretty loud at times. After having some procedures done (atlas adjusted, dry needling muscles) it's back to very mild and dissapears alot.

That's a good idea. It is still informative to see the overall results. I will wait a week and then create polls for the different causes of T.

The results of the survey aren't surprising. A majority of folks with T get better, and don't end up here. Those who are here are here for a reason: it didn't get better! It's just called a "sample bias" in statistics.

Moreover if you are 6 month in you cannot know if it gets better after 1 year so it is normal most people do not see improvement

Well this poll will be really discouraging for a lot of people because most people who saw improvements eventually left this site.

Most people I know in real life actually had some improvement.
I have had improvements as well, also setbacks, but overall better than the first weeks.

The improvements are starting to take longer though, 1 to 3 months was a big difference, but now it's less of a change. I get good and bad days. And some almost quiet moments, count myself lucky I guess.

To be fair, mine got worse over time but I don't frequently stay on this forum but check in now and then (maybe once every few months). So it can still be worse, but habituated and then not always checking the forum. Now and then I get spikes or scares but now that I've had it for 1,5 years, you learn how it change behave and sounds or situation you have been exposed to that you know is uncomfortable but not dangerous.

My tinnitus never got better, some days I could say it's worse, but my ability to cope with it improved somewhat.

Today, horrendous, dizzy, noisy, and horrible. Tomorrow may be better.
