I personally donated to "tinnitus research". I hope that is the correct one for Dr. Tzounopoulos? Because I did not see any specific one naming him.

@IvanRus, did you ever find out how to donate to the professor himself?

I thought he was getting funded by US Defense?!
Regardless I would love to see some joined effort of tinnitus community to support his research!

@DebInAustralia Hey Deb, i‘ve seen that you have connections to the professor, could you maybe ask him where we have to donate to, so that the money also ends up with him?:)

No, I did not address the professor with this question.

But I will do it if someone doesn't do it first.

Monetary resources can significantly accelerate research progress.

Great, thank you @IvanRus. I really want to make sure my donations go directly and only to his research.

This is the guy who added a Fluoride atom to the Retigabine molecule, right?

So, the compound is there? Let's test it, then!
Is funding the only thing that's needed?

Stop. In the latest video, which is dated in 2014 (!!!) Professor Tzounopoulos says that in a year or two they hope to start clinical trials of the drug KV7.

Karl, now 2018 is coming to an end, and, judging by his answer in the letter @DebInAustralia, they are now at the "early preclinical stages of the study." Something obviously went wrong according to plan, unfortunately for us.

What could be the problem? This is very sad, we could already be close to entering the market of this drug.

Probably he does not have enough funding. It seems that we should announce a new fundraising around the world in order to transfer this money specifically to Tzounopoulos.

This drug could facilitate our existence for these 10-15 years, until we learn how to regenerate the hair cells.

To be honest, today I see Doctor Tzounopoulos research as the most rational and the most promising.

He really can create a pill that will muffle Tinnitus. We can live peacefully and whole, even often taking these medications. As epileptics, which happily live for decades, taking anticonvulsants daily.

If I were a millionaire, I would not hesitate to donate a large sum to Dr. Tzounopoulos for research on tinnitus.

What about getting Thanos Tzounopoulos and his research trending on Twitter. A full blown Twitter storm. All we need is a lot of people and 1 hashtag. If we all use the same hashtag at the same time and only the one hashtag we can make it trend.

But if so what should the tag be? #TzounopoulosTinnitus #TzounopoulosFunding

For it to work the tweets should be directed at someone like the ATA or Tinnitus Research Initiative or both.

Who have the means to support the research of Dr. Thanos?

While still just tweeting away with hashtag.

Anybody in here up for that? We would still need a hashtag.

It is at a very early stage right now. As I said earlier I am trying to get some communities to help through Twitter. We`re in the recruitment phase right now. So we need to convince people to join in. Be that on here, Twitter, Facebook or other places.

After seeing this video and learning that the goal was to start trials after about 2 years of the video. It makes be really sad. Knowing that we had a small chance to know if this would have worked in humans by now.

Why not ask him what the current state of his research is? If it is that promising, I would think he should be able to get funding through the big pharma companies.

Guys, It looks like the Professor has research grants through February 2022. I know very little about the Professors research, but believe he may have produced 2 molecules for further development in conjunction with the first grant from the US Army listed below. One molecule was an analog of trobalt which was purchased by SciFluor who then modified it further by including fluorine to make it more receptor specific and therefore more potent with fewer side effects. However, this molecule may have failed in preclinical animal studies. There was also another molecule which may have been more extensively modified, but I know nothing about it, who owns it or if its ever been tested in laboratory or animal studies. Attheedgeofscience may know more about it as he was part of a Tinnitus Talk team that explored this science including trobalt and KVreceptors. -TC

Guys, so the second drug that the Professor and others at Pittsburgh developed is called RL-81. I have run across any further information about this compound.
      https://www.upmc.com/media/news/pitt-team-redesigns-epilepsy-drug

If you are thinking of donating to tinnitus research at University of Pittsburgh, you may wish to do some due diligence first. Some questions to ask would be: Is tinnitus being actively researched right now? If yes, by whom? What is the project and how much money is already available to that person for the tinnitus research project? Personally, I would not donate unless the researcher already has a fairly sizable amount of money or is actively campaigning to raise money for a specific tinnitus research project. If the Professor already has a grant, will my money be added to it? If there is no active tinnitus research at U P, then the money I send may sit there unused for eons until enough accumulates to fund a tinnitus project. Also, I would want to know how much of the money I send will go directly to the research and how much will go to overhead. University of Pittsburgh has a fairly sizable endowment. -TC

Excellent - give a little and often.

I am giving to the University of Pittsburgh.

Do I know if it will work?

      No.
