Self-Blame for Not Being Able to Cope Better

I am now dealing with what I can only describe as a depressed state after remission from tinnitus. I did it with meditation and embraced the silence but now that the noise is all but gone. I look at how not being able to handle the tinnitus messed up my life. Not sure how to live with silence after 11 years of tinnitus.

Hi ,first of all well done for coping so far and great to hear silence again.
Take one day as it comes and go at your own pace and place no pressure on yourself.

Congrats to your finding silence again after 11 years. Perhaps you should write a more detailed success story to share your insights on how to live with T and beat it. Many newbies will benefit from reading your story.

Regarding the new found silence, it is like those folks in East Germany. After the East reunited with the West, the folks from the East found it hard to live with so much freedom. They were so used to pre-planned and controlled life from the communist party, where they didn't have to face the task of making so many personal choices or decisions daily, that they simply found it a bit overwhelmed about what to do with making choices for themselves in a free society as West Germany.

 

It went away completely after those years? Im quite happy for you, what did you get T from?

What the??? Don't you feel like you have a new lease on life? I was pretty damn happy prior to T, I don't think anything could get me down if my T went away.

People mess up their lives because they can't handle terrible problems, tinnitus being one of those problems. Now that you have your silence back, thank your lucky stars.

What level was your T? Mild, moderate, or severe?

 

I would literally chop my legs off if I got rid of tinnitus. Be happy!

 

Don't chop it lol, it would give you the similar problem, the phantom pain, instead of phantom sounds.

 

Wow interesting story. I understand what you mean. I've always thought that if I woke up without tinnitus tomorrow that I'd still be struggling with depression, because every other part of your life becomes affected by it... and that takes time to improve. I can imagine it being overwhelming at first but consider yourself lucky! Maybe counselling could help so you can get your life back on track?

Also I'm interested to hear how your tinnitus went away!?!

 

@billie48 Yes ...you are exactly right about the feedom part..not being able to handle being set free from prison. I am very impressed that you understand. I spoke with someone about it and they thought that as well. Thanks for being kind and understanding about how tough it is.

 

Tinnitus was very loud ...like a rumbling every day.

I do understand you though, I have my T back after a time of stress consequently I am depressed now, and if my T has a quiet day, I am pretty scared. I don't know who I am any more it is my identity as it controls my life. Plus I have the fear that at any minute it will smack me in the face again.
