Yikes. I wonder if there is a limit to how much we can perceive?

I don't understand how those people in 1883 didnt die from that??

The gigantic pressure from such an extreme sound blast seems like something that would tear your head apart.

I was introduced to this many years back as volcanology is one of my wife’s specialisms. It’s insane to think how loud this would have been.

Okay, I’ve got a hypothetical situation for you all. Let’s say an alert is put out that a volcano is about to blow, and it’s going to be a big one. However, the experts can only give a window of hours, days, or weeks until it’s going to happen. So, here’s the catch: there is a cure for tinnitus located 10 miles from the base of the volcano. Do you go get it or run the other way?

I run away, wait for the volcano to blow then return and retrieve the cure.
Ok I'm cheating ik. Presumably cure would be covered in lava.
If it had to be one or the other I'd run towards the volcano and risk it. Can't get much worse...

Now Ed you'd better tell me this moment where is this volcano, is it in Ireland? Or maybe in San Antonio?
Just please don't say it's on Tonaki Island...
      ;)

Yea, I’d say the cure would be non-existent if this approach was taken .

It’s in the hypothetical land of Tinnitus Talk :D

I go after the cure. I've always been a good-for-nothing but even if it blew it would be a sacrifice for the good of others. ...Which fits in with my own personal beliefs as I personally hold martyrdom in an extremely high regard.
